If the borg came, I want to be assimilated... I would get a new highly advanced body and I would no longer feel sad, or have insomnia or nightmares - or would fear not being accepted, or be fragile or misunderstood. No, the only sane reason I can come up with to cross interstellar space to visit this rather unremarkable little orb is in order to say "hi" in person. And if the alien race in question isn't at all curious, they're unlikely to go to all that trouble. After all, there would appear to be countless systems in the area without probable inhabitants, from which they could acquire resources to their hearts' content without having to worry about trouble from the natives.

Why not? The problem here is that it would be appeal to ignorance to say there's no life based on current data, however this is an endless cycle because lack of proof doesn't mean falsity, it just makes belief in ET non-falsifiable. Provable if there was a documented contact, but non-disprovable otherwise.
