There were waiting lists when I got mine about a year and a half ago. I have no doubt with barrel prices over $115 they have even longer waits now.

After buying the car and paying my taxes Tuesday, I'm sorta broke for a bit.

But, when I recover from all this, I want to buy a VAIS for the car.

This is a device that you plug into the back of your stereo so you can add XM radio and see everything on the little screen on the dash.

Same with an iPod. You can plug in your iPod and control it from the steering wheel as well as view all the information from the screen... even videos!

Although, I don't have an iPod that does video. But that's okay since I'm driving anyway.
It could be neat to have the video capability for times when I'm sitting at a construction zone on the highway for 20 or more minutes.
Or when I'm waiting on my daughter to get out of school or whatever.

I'd like to be able to hook up my GPS unit instead of paying for an expensive car model.

There are websites that show different Prius Hacks and two companies that make electronics to unlock and use your MFD in ways you cannot straight from the factory.
Those two companies are:
VAIS
and
Coastal Electronics

Yeah... I didn't know about this stuff until right before I bought the car.
It does add this extra GEEK element to it... hacking the Prius.
I'll just have to remember that it is certainly one EXPENSIVE toy to play around with... and to be careful! 8O

What I like is the possibility of operating the backup camera fulltime while I'm driving!
After that I need to figure out how to record what it sees! :D

I'm in a hurry... got called in to work for someone tonight, so I just quickly posted it to GOOGLE/Picasa.. which may or may not work.

You also get to see the... "Little Blue House on the Corner" :D from my blurb to the left, under my avatar

I'm wearing my Black Workman's Utilikilt, Wrong Planet T-Shirt, and Wrong Planet Cap... and my Chaco Sandals.

unfortunately... none of these are paid endorsements :( Image

And YES... it really is my car!

And NO I am really not smug about it... I just like to pretend to be :P

 Alright, I guess I believe you........unless that's someone else's car! Hehehehe.........Ahem... :)

How about my Hummer?

I keep a stretch SUV Limo under wraps and just drive it around when friends or family come over to visit and we go out cruising!

I can get you pictures of me standing next to each of them!
:P :lmao:

seriously though... the Prius is mine

I'm getting nervous now... what have I done to impress anyone? 8O
But thank you Smelena... the feeling is mutual! :D

I'm curious how this whole hybrid car, electric vehicle movement is going outside the U.S.?

Any of you folks outside the U.S. able to make a comment on that?
