I just sent a quick e-mail. I have never used IM. Maybe 10 years ago I used "Talk"
on unix systems but thats it. You will have to explain it to me.

It may not be the best saying I have heard but it is the one that sticks in my mind the most.
When I was 12 I was dropped from the school football team because the school coach said
"you have a temper as mad as a cut snake"

Many Aussies can relate to the saying "as mad a cut snake" especially in the country where snakes are in abundance and if you cut one in half iwth a shovel the head half thrashes around madly everywhere bite anything or anyone that come near it. There were quite a few fatal snake bites to old farmers in the past when that happened.

I guess I would be pretty mad if someone hit me in the middle of the back with a shovel too.

My grandmother was a tough Texas gal with a few rough edges. She had an expression she used when she got tired of waiting for a response from someone in a conversation. She would say, so quickly that you aren't quite sure you heard her right ... "Speak, ass. Mouth won't!"
