Why were you depressed about your run?

Because I planned to do 9 miles and ended up only doing 8 (and that's the first time after 4 years of running that I have ever done that) I only jogged 11 minute miles until lap 5, and I was probably doing 13 minutes (i.e. almost walking) the other 4 laps (9 laps = 8 miles, 10 = 9) and my legs cramped up so I couldn't even get a good last lap in to redeem myself. It's as if I wasn't a runner anymore....(which is MAJOR part of my identity as you can see).

Ah, I see. I used to run a fair bit myself, and always felt pretty gutted when I didn't reach my full potential. Everyone has "off days" though, and from what you described you still seem like a very skilled runner.

Yup. Oh really? That's cool...did you ever do it for a sport in school or just for yourself...aslo, did you ever compete in any races? Well, I knew I wasn't going to after the 5th lap...but I've NEVER not finished a running distance, that's the major reason I was depressed. Ok, hopefully it was just an off day...thank you.

I just ran for the sake of keeping fit really (I should probably start up again, after my foot heals properly), the most I ever ran in one go was about 7 miles, but a lot of that was uphill. My brother is quite a serious runner though and once did a half marathon with my dad.

Oh, ok. Make sure to RICE. WO. 7 miles uphill. 8O That's crazy uphill. The longest I've gone is 26 miles. Has he ever considered doing a full? What was the time he got on the half? Mine was 1:53:53...and for the full 4:21:55

It wasn't all uphill. Only a couple of miles or so, but still tricky enough for me.

I'm not sure what time he got, but I'll ask him and get back to you on that. (I might need reminding).

I think he has considered doing the London Marathon either next year or the year after that.

I just remembered, he did two half marathons.

Oh, it just sounded like that.

That'd be cool if you could ask.

Wo, that's crazy....my marathon was pretty small, only around 2000.

Yea, I've only done 1 of each.

Yup. Pretty small considering thats the same size as our local Turkey Trot. :P

Thought so. I guess that's not that many considering it's a marathon. For the London one there's a massive waiting list, and you have to raise a large amount of money for charity before you're allowed to race, I think.

I just realised I'm getting calluses on my right hand fingers. I have them on my left hand because of playing the banjo and guitar, but never on my right hand before to any extent. I think it's because of all the typing on my keyboard.

I'm off to bed now. So I'll give myself and anyone else about to do the same a nice soothing treat.

This stuff is far better than Horlicks.

Hope you like it.

Just popped back for a minute to say there's a storm! A stormy storm storm! :D

It's only a little one but there is lightning and some pretty impressive thunder.

Anyway, I'm going to bed properly now. Night WPeople!
