Sometimes instead of waking right up, I have a weird thing happen that seems somewhere between being asleep and being awake. I start by struggling just to get my eyes open, then trying to move my arms, usually I eventually can try to stand, but I’m also completely numb (which is weird because usually in dreams, I feel everything just like it was reality), and I fall and try to drag myself toward the door of my bedroom. And then I actually wake up and haven’t moved at all. There’s never any trace of fear, or even really much sense of urgency, even though I feel like I have to keep trying to move. I’m just like “Okay, well, I guess this is happening now”
Not sure if it really qualifies as “sleep paralysis,” but it is odd. It’s the closest thing I’ve ever had to a recurring dream.
