I uh, I see. I see.
Wouldn't you have interfered though if you were to be put in such a situation? :P

Possibly not.

Now that this computer is located farther away from that bandwidth vampire back at the dorm, the connection seems a lot more stable.

Odd.

And ah, I see. That's good then! Unreliable internet connection can get rather annoying!

It was! That bandwidth vampire was playing a 3D online game of some sort and using an internet phone service simultaneously!

As a minor note on HAL9000, there may have been fewer deaths on the mission had there been no threats of shutting down, which is explored in a later book in which HAL9000's, "father," discusses the nature of HAL9000's overreaction.

How'd you know that person was using those? Roommate? :o

I should really read more books in the Space Odyssey series, I've only read one.

Yes, and on the same network too. It is a bit of a shame that being rather LN, I will not break the acceptable use policy contract electronically signed and perform minor countermeasures for what can be interpreted as constituting unacceptable use.

As for the Odyssey series, if I remember correctly, WordOfGod is that each book takes place in an alternate universe, perhaps explaining some minor problems in 2010 and 2061.

And we still have no manned missions to other planets even more than a decade after 2001!

Ah. :o

*adds the three other books in the series to summer reading list*

Yeah, that's rather unfortunate. :?
I watched a documentary that talked about colonizing Mars, it was rather interesting. Too bad it won't happen anytime soon, because they stated the whole world will have to work together to make it possible. And it doesn't seem like world peace is going to happen anytime soon either.

I generally forgo the reading lists and just select books about the most interesting* books, which explains the book about reactor theory and two volumes of binary alloy phase diagrams and 40 other checked out books.

I wonder why there never were copies of 3001 at the school library, but right now, my target novel is Les Misérables in the original French.

* At the moment

I rarely ever go to my school's library. For some reason it's only open on Mondays, and I have NHS meetings on that day.

You can read French? :o

A shame, isn't it? Only Mondays, and sometimes Thursdays. I don't know what they do with the school library on other days.
