It never did. It was a massive hoax to get insurance money. Strange thing, the insurance companies were part of the conspiracy making the hoax, too...

Same question.

It didn't sink. Their satnav got a virus... for all we know they could still be sailing around looking for their destination.

Magic.
I wished it to sink because I hate all those people I never met who get to be in a ship that I was never even born when it existed.

Same question.

It sank so that "why did the Titanic sink?" could be asked 50 times in a thread.

It didn't sank.
It was a ruse so I could snipe the person who will break this thread's combo. It's currently following that missing plane from Malaysia.

... The original questioner is exempted to the sniping though.

In the early 1900s, shortly after the invention of refrigerators there was a boom in novelty fridge magnet production. When demand proved significantly less than anticipated, some 14 billion fridge magnets were dumped in the north atlantic. Titanic was unfortunate enough to pass directly over the dumping site, and being made of iron, was pulled down to the sea bed.

It didn't sink. The ocean rose above it due to global warming.

Oh it sank alright, but it was actually a simple navigation error. The ship was slightly off-course for New York. A straightforward command to 'turn left at the next iceberg' was somehow misinterpreted as 'go straight downwards'.

But I'm happy to be corrected if you'd care to answer the...

Same question.

In reality, it fell off the edge of the flat earth.

Same question.

No it was brought down by an unprovoked coordinated mermaid attack

I definitely wouldn't call this mermaid attack "coordinated". They were lucky one of them didn't forget to take her scissors so she could cut a hole in the ship!

Same question?

I was a really noob witch.
Trying to summon a meteor from thousand miles away. It ends up rising a giant iceberg thousands of miles away instead.

Same question.

People have history mixed up. Its the the Hindenburg that sank. The Titanic exploded in a giant fireball over New Jersey.

Why aren't blimps a more common form of travel?
