I'm thinking #3.

I sense the Bronte sisters stalwartly supported each other through thick and thin.

Both "Clarissa" and "Sister Carrie" were about the redemption of a woman who was seen as being, somehow, of a "questionable" nature. "Sister Carrie" more dramatically so.

1. I wish I was Francine's father in "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn," without the alcoholism.

2. I wish I was the archaeologist in the movie "A French Lieutenant's Woman."

3. I wish I was Raskonikov, because he met a woman who sent him food while he was thousands of miles away in a gulag (during the 19th century).

The sisters wrote by candlelight around the parlour table at night, reading and critiquing one another's novels aloud as they walked in circles.

Their poetry was much more private, and led to fights between Charlotte and Emily. Anne resented Charlotte's condescension but they did support each other as pseunonymous writers. I'll detail more in the WH thread when we start.

1 is true. Emily's work was considered depraved and scandalous. The implications of such censure frightened Charlotte so she referred to the book as a mistake.

3 is true. My avatar could be either Helen or Isabella, because they were so similar.

2 is a lie. Emily studied German philosophy in Brussels, not Berlin.

Kraftie I think your lie is 1, although I'm sure you don't want to be in prison like Raskonikov.

Au Contrairie! LOL.....I've wanted to be an anthropologist/archaeologist since sixth grade.

I used to admire Francine's father a lot----because he made all people around him less sad amid a very sad existence in the extremely crowded tenements of 1900 New York City.

The lie is #3. I wouldn't have wanted to murder my landlady.

1. My father and I liked to sit in coffee shops, reading our respective books. He liked mysteries (Sherlock Holmes).

2. While in Montréal, I learned 'family secrets' about my mother's very large side of the family, and they shocked me in a good way.

3. I've always looked so much like my paternal aunt that I'm often confused who is who in old photos.

OH LOL -- yes elusive is the word. ha.

Correct! My dad never drank coffee, and I didn't see him read a book once in my life.

I do like psychedelia, actually. Though I would have been too hyper to stay around one of those Acid Tests which lasted hours and hours.

"White Rabbit," by Jefferson Airplay, is one of my favorite songs---it was inspired by Ravel's Bolero, and by "Alice in Wonderland."
