Why are so many solar eclipses visible only in the southern hemisphere, and in oceanic areas?

Because we have so much ocean for the oceanic component, but perhaps, the orbital plane of the moon generally points below that of the earth.

A simulation indicate that the eclipse was not visible east of 90°W before sunset.
