I watched a viral video where someone shows what happens when a ball of red-hot nickel is placed on top of a block of floral foam. According to some other viewers my whole life is boring and pointless just for watching it.

A blunt drill - Boring and pointless

Talking with a young adult who happened to be bright, talented, and financially secure. It chilled me to hear her reference blue collar workers as scary, and beneath her as the dregs of society. It made me think of the future as bleak, but it's not so different in the present. Today's struggle isn't recognized, and dismissed on hindsight as not determined enough. The sentence is passed through economic privilege vs experience. It makes me want to hide.

If anything surprises me, it's that we're not much better than we are at completely disregarding the struggles of those we consider inferiors.
