I sense you would have liked it.

1. I've been to the Gettysburg Battlefield

2. I've been to the Grand Canyon

3. I've been to Yosemite National Park---and I pretended to be Yosemite Sam while I was there.

I just went through photos and found me at Williamsburg VA and Poconos NY.

I don't recall that you've been to the Grand Canyon.

1. My CA grandparents had a holiday property in Arizona.

2. My grandparents lived near The London Bridge.

3. My mother used to put lemon juice in my hair to make it more blonde.

#2 for Isabella.

For me, the lie is #3. I've never been to Yosemite National Park. I went to the Grand Canyon in 2015, on the same trip that bought me to California.

My lie is actually 3. It was my grandmother (the model) who put lemon juice in my hair, while we were visiting their holiday property beside The London Bridge (in Arizona)! The London Bridge was relocated to Arizona in 1967.

That's true, Isabella....absolutely true! I deserve the Dunce Hat for that!

There is a London Bridge train station in London.

1. I wore a Dunce Cap a couple of times while I was in school.

2. I was frequently thrown out of class, and made to stand in the hall.

3. I was sent to the Principal's Office frequently.

I'll forgive you for the oversight.
If you wore a dunce cap I'm going to need the name of your school straight away. 8O

Other places I've been in US:

1. Las Vegas / Clark County. My cousin is a lawyer there and she used to invite me quite frequently.

2. Cape Cod and Provincetown, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket (even without the limericks).

3. St. Louis, MO where I actually required emergency surgery.

I would say #1.

The Lie is #3. I was actually rarely sent to the Principal's office.

I was made to wear a dunce cap, and sit in the corner, a couple of times in the early grades.

Nope, sorry! 1 is true. My cousin lives in Clark County. I think I told you that we used to skinny dip by the Hoover Dam.

Try again.

You had the emergency surgery elsewhere....

It actually happened.....

I believe I might have also been hit with a ruler on my knuckles once when I was in first grade.

I had an extreme fear of the "Principal's Office"---until I actually went to one. All the principal did was ask me why I behave the way I do; he didn't hit me with a paddle or something.

3 is my lie. I was actually referred to St. Louis for surgery when I lived in LA, but it wasn't emergency and I didn't go.

1. I was picked up by my hair and spanked on my very first day of school, because I played with a train set and it was "for boys". All of the girls laughed at me and teased me for the transgression, but I liked trains because of my older brother.

2. I remember that teacher letting me serve apple juice and biscuits to the students as a way of excusing herself for what she had done.

3. By the end of the day I called her a bad word, and I was sent home for being impolite.

She was indeed manipulative. I knew straight away not to like her.

3 is my lie though.

I didn't call the teacher any bad words or even tell my father what she did. I was afraid that my father would be so upset with the teacher he would make me quit school. I wanted to learn how to read, so I refused to take the chance. I never told. I had no frame of reference for understanding I wouldn't need to quit school in order to avoid her.

(and, here we pave the foundations for my fear of women?)

I'm actually surprised your teacher did this in the early 70s----you would have expected that sort of thing in the Depression.
