I have perfect pitch, but my voice characteristics are such that I don't judge my singing to be good for listening, even though I am on key.

Speaking voice is just fine, but my own singing makes me cringe.

Couldn't be worse than the Bieber, and he is rich!

No dear Krabo, I said I was going away next Friday.

Oh. Hmm. You said it on Wednesday (was it?), hence from my point of view, the next Friday would be today. Is it a New Zealand convention to refer to next week's days by saying 'next' when you actually mean next next?

^ Yes. That. If I say on Wednesday (or whatever) that I am going away next Friday, it means the Friday of the following week.

Otherwise, we would say, I am going away this Friday. Or more simply 'I am going away on Friday' (then you would assume it is the next one coming).

Of course, from your point of view I can see how what you said would seem perfectly logical. However, to us, since we have already started this week, then we have 'this Friday', and then 'next Friday' is in next week.

I think I need a drink now.

How many days do you actually have in your week?

Seitsemän. Monday - Sunday.

Why, is it different in Finland? 8O

Excellent! They resemble the corresponding Swedish day names except for keskiviikko.

Don't know Swedish. Want to do Norwegian one day, after Russian.

Don't think you read my link in the other thread Krabo, half of NZ internet down. I get one minute if I'm lucky, then shuts down for half an hour.

Nz sites load ok. It's like being in a totalitarian state. 8O

We made Finnish news? 8O

It was terrible. I was unconnected. I couldn't talk to my friends. I didn't know what was going on in the world.

NZ websites still worked, so we could at least read why we couldn't do anything. Luckily I had downloaded two Finnish Memrise courses, so I could do those offline, and I caught up with my Italian reading group. :)

I can imagine it is terrible. It has never happened to me in that kind of form. A few times an excavator has cut cables but they get fixed within an hour or two.
