One of my rats died. She had been sickly for a while and I'm glad she isn't suffering any more but this is a bad time of the year for digging graves since the ground is frozen. Also I have a yard full of stray cats that might try to dig her up. I don't even know if there are any good spots for graves in my new yard.

We tried to dig a hole to bury her and the ground is too hard to dig.

In our old house in the winter we buried them in the cellar but the cellar doesn't have a dirt floor here.

I don't know what I'm going to do.

Damn karma...

My condolences.

That would not be cheap and would require finding and going to a vet. I just asked my mother and she said when we got a small animal cremated about 20 years ago it was $65 and she won't pay that, plus it would be more now.

Might glass jars or bottles work for the rat? They are permanent for all practical purposes....

What about wrapping her up really well and freezing her until the ground is soft enough?

The glass jar or bottle thing would help if the cats like to dig. I can't dig a hole though.

Freezing her where? In the freezer? My mother would never allow that and I wouldn't want to do that either. If a dead body was in there I wouldn't want to eat anything in the freezer.

I guess I'll have to try digging again tomorrow and see if I can do better than my mother or find a better spot than my mother tried.

My dad and brother are home today, playing video games, listening to the stereo, watching Netflix and coming into my room to use the computer. The reason why this is making me unhappy is because it's too noisy for me to read my book like I was planning on doing today. I love my dad and brother dearly, but sometimes I like it when they're at school/work so that I can have a little peace & quiet.
