love the effects you used here. how did you do that?

I'm not sure what you mean.

the colours are sort of unnaturally washed out with a sepia tone, which looks really cool. also, there is a bright light in the centre, fading away to shadow on the edges. sort of a spotlight effect. i don't know if these things were created because of the camera you used, the settings of your camera, or editing afterward. just intersted as i like the way it looks.

Why didn't you post this one?

Dammit. If the Doctor's in town it's bound to mean trouble. If I see just one cyberman outside my door I'm blaming you!

It looks like a Unionist town in Northern Ireland in July or perhaps Gibraltar during the tensest periods for them back in the 1960s (the 'dove' period). I've never seen as many flags about.

I'd take a photo but, to be honest, the Royal Wedding celebrations are much more subdued up here. A few houses are flying Union Jacks and the shops have them but nothing like what you see in your photos. My local butcher has one up in his bedroom but that's about all.

Henbane: There's a lot of flags about in Framlingham then. Interesting.

Also, your photos come out looking really not very nice at 1024px wide. Try setting them at 800px at the widest end and see what they end up looking like. :)

Oh, yeah. And that's the other point - there were no flags up in Rochdale town centre at all. Not one.

Up here it will be very subdued - partly, I suspect, because of the Righteous but also because there is a marked lack of interest being shown by many up here.

Tequila, what make is your camera? I used to have a Canon, which I really liked but it went kaput. Now I have a new Fuji, which I really don't like. It won't focus properly and is annoying me intensely. Your photos are really good, what kind of camera are you using?

Panasonic FZ38. The picture quality isn't that good. It resolves colours well enough but the images are full of noise at anything over, say, 50%.

What sort of camera do you want? A good editing program helps too. :)

Yes, they are quite squished. I'll have to have a play around. Do I change the size in photobucket? I'm really a novice at all this.

I think Framlingham is going for the tourists, it's been featured in quite a few articles in the local news and I've seen posters all over Suffolk. Having said that, I didn't see many tourists today, but it was busier than I've ever seen it, with more cars than I can normally cope with. It's nice to see a bit of patriotism, I'm surprised at how upbeat the flags have made me feel.

I'll have a fiddle on photobucket.

You can do that when you upload them. Or you can easily do it in any tinpot photo-editing program before you upload - hell, if you have a Mac, even Preview can do that for you.

Don't worry, they'll all be taken down again by Saturday.

Those are great pictures and they give me an insight of what Manchester is like.

Rochdale is a separate town on the outskirts of the ceremonial county. Manchester itself is about ten miles away from Rochdale. So it's a dormitory town, if you like.

It's the sort of place that many people escape from if they can to live somewhere a bit nicer with less yobbos.

I'd also like to go into that gift shop and look around. :)

Gift shop? Do you mean the one with the Royal Wedding / Union Jack stuff? It's not a gift shop; it's a hardware store!

I don't know. I've adjusted the size to 800ish. But I don't know if it looks any better.

It probably doesn't if you've re-edited it on Photobucket.

Do you still have the original files?

On the drive back from Rochdale (and ending up in Bury!) I took this photo in traffic:

It is a great place. No jobs or buses. But apart from that it's smashing.

I always use post-processing to try to attain a darker or more vintage feel. I guess the word "effects" made me think of something more obvious like tilt shifting or using infrared. Anyway, glad you like. :geek:
