i will just clear a few things up.

i am not well able to reciprocate in a way where i can consider what people mean when they talk to me, and so if i respond shortly after reading what i am responding to, i will reply in a hastily considered way.

in rapidly advancing threads, i try to reply as quickly as possible or else the thread is pages ahead the next day, and my window of response time has passed.

one may wonder why my default responses the other night were defiant, and it was because i am rarely replied to (which i am used to (and like)) , and when i do get replies, they are never "jokey" and bantery because i do not invite that style of reply.

when i got many more replies than i usually get that were not literal, then i could not understand in what context they were being made. i can eventually work things like that out, but it takes varying a while.

my initial interpretation: i wondered why everyone else can post things like their bellies, and themselves in underwear, but my arm was shocking (which i took to mean "offensive")

my amended interpretation: because i rarely post anything with me in it, and because i portray my identity with a robot representation, it is shocking (taken to mean "surprising") to see both a picture, and more so, that i was not a robot (i saw the joke?)

my initial interpretation: i thought he thought i was using a plastic arm. that would be weird. i could not see how it looked fake.

my amended interpretation: because the robot is "fake", it is a double entendre to propose that the picture of my real arm is fake, because my "real" arm is a tubular bellows with an iron claw on the end of it.
(i saw the joke?)

my initial interpretation: i thought you were implying that you have somehow found my suburb (zip) from some sort of analysis of the photo.

my amended interpretation: i realized you meant a "toothed" zip soon after realizing the previous things.

my initial interpretation: i thought that you were using "organic" in a way that seemed crudely euphemistic for something i could not determine. the wink after your sentence made me think it was an "in house" joke for the benefit of the more aware members. i did not want to be the butt of whatever joke it was, so i stupidly posted another picture of my leg to counteract whatever notion you had when you said "organic". was it about the arm or the shot or what?

my amended interpretation: you also were referring to my persona as a robot (non organic), so i got the joke i am almost sure.

my initial interpretation: i thought you were ramping up the game of tossing the social ball high over my head and watching me flump about trying to catch it. i replied with vitriol.

then i pressed "quote" and alt tabbed to another program i had running that had just finished, and i came back a few minutes later and typed in my reply after others had posted in the mean time, which, if i had read, would have aborted my continued indignation.

my amended interpretation: i realize that it was not meant as an insult now.
even though i can not see the connection with tentacles, i believe it was a joke

so i just had to say sorry for wrecking my part of the china shop the other night, and i will make more of an effort to carefully consider things well before i say them. i will say that this episode has shown me that my default response should not be one of hostility, because i realize now that ridicule is not a motive of anyone i corresponded with in this thread the other night .
