Post something that made you UNHAPPY today.
You try and get someone prosecuted for treason. It would never fly in a million years.
But if anyone burnt the aboriginal flag they would be classed as racist.
Yeah. It's great, isn't it?
I think people are having a gutful of the racist tag first its some academic saying anyone flying the flag on their car is a racist then we have people burning our flag they get more handouts then anyone else in this country.
With the new wave of politicking for the cause of pleasure above health and activism for nothing more than the sake of being angry infecting my school, I feel my avatar speaks for itself. I hold with my beliefs, virtues, and ideals, and no torches and pitchforks mob of peasants currently in the groupthink mode can hope to shake them, even if the part about torches is somewhat more literal than expected in other places.

it would be if you burnt their flag. burning the australian flag is ok because it has a whole different meaning. it is the flag of the colonial settler, the flag that the cops who beat on black people have above their stations, that flag is there on the roofs of the cells that aboriginal people die in, it is the flag worn by those who are beating up the wogs or the lebs, it's the flag that the military personnel moving aboriginals off their traditional land have on their cars, the flag of the government that stole their children and that makes it illegal for them to learn in their traditional languages. it represents an exclusionary national identity, one that minority races or ethnic groups are not a part of. it's those that wear the flag that tell you to go back to where you came from if you dont like it or that tell you there is something wrong with your culture just because or that you are not assimilating properly into society and you have to choose between your old country and the new because there is no way you can have divided loyalties. the flag is a symbol of racism, nationalism and colonialism. the people who tend to go all out with the flag all over them on australia day tend to be the "f#$% off, we're full" types.

no. after we gave it to the organisers i heard they were going to auction it off to raise funds for the embassy but then i heard they had said they would give it to gillard when she came down to talk to them about what could be done about their rights as a sign of co-operation and goodwill. in other words she will never see it again.

It is not okay to burn our flag and its time these people moved on instead of going on about something that happened over 200 years ago it was awful but that is history.
there was talk about changing the constitution to include these people but after what happened the other day no body will vote for them.
The cronula riots happened because some Lebenese attacked some girls on the beach there.

sigh. moved on? how can they move on when it is celebrated every year on the 26th. it is like saying hey the holocaust was bad but lets just forget about that nastiness now shall we? also their oppression is hardly a thing of the past.
their life expectancy is 15-17 years less than the national average. this was driven home to us when at the rally before the one that got into the papers an activist named the names of 300 dead ATSI activists many of whom were dead all at relatively young ages. death in custody rates and rates of imprisonment are higher than for non aboriginals. there was a commission into the deaths in custody and many recommendations made and not one has been followed. prison guards or police convicted for deaths? zero. there is the whole issue of land rights. it is nigh impossible for them to get ownership recognised and land is taken away anyway at times(BHP's uranium mine on Arabunna land). the whole intervention bit. it is paternalistic, humiliating and assimilationist and designed to get people off their traditional land. attempted suicides and self harm rates have gone up since it was introduced. the number of children going to school has also dropped since it's introduction. the list of the atrocities the government dishes out goes on.
also the cronulla riots were not caused by what you say. they were a reflection of the racism in society. a bunch of bigots sent around texts days before hand advertising for it. my palestinian friend got one. the booze did not make it better. the people they beat up weren't even lebanese they were italian or something.

The only racists are those protesters they should have been arrested and thrown in jail.
everyone has had a gutfull of them as for Muslims no one invited them they are blow ins that don't want to assimilate snd the sudanese and Lebonese gangs who hang around train stations bashing people.
The protesters should have all their special hand outs taken from them as they seem to want more and more all the time then they spend it all on grog. that little brat should have her ipods and iphones taken from her as they were thought up by whites the very people she dislikes.

It's worth 50 points, a relatively big part of our grade. Thank goodness we already had our midterm exams.
