to kevin.

it is not necessary to try to sound intelligent through the use of esoteric phrases.

your intelligence will be evident in everything you say, (no matter how simple you may think it sounds) if you just relax and talk in a simple and spontaneous way, and you will find that your extreme intelligence can not be hidden even by simple words.

i do not know why you wish to be seen as so intelligent, but non the less, intelligence can not be faked...even by intelligent people who should just relax and say what they think exactly and clearly.

whatever, i think i will have to take this back soon when i get a warning from a moderator.

As far as I can see, b9, you're offering sound advice which would be useful to anyone.

This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.

I've spent too much time on Facebook today. I don't know how to use it properly.

Yeah, I liked using "big words" frequently. Sometimes, I wanted to sound smarter than I really was.
I then realized it probably sounded exceedingly pretentious and fake, so I stopped using them all the time.

I know someone with AS (no longer an active member of this site) who clearly uses a thesaurus whenever (s)he wants to say anything. What's wrong with constantly using thesauri is that a word may be synonymous to another, but not really interchangeable. So, if you run into someone who really knows that word, you sound weird.
Sometimes there's just one word that can be used for a situation.
But this is becoming irrelevant now.

I was using big words for a while a few years ago to prove to another member that I was intelligent and I did function well. That was in 2007 when things weren't going so well. I've eventually stopped because I was getting nowhere and I was running out of words.

Yeah, exactly.
I think a lot of us go through phases like that. Not all, but I've seen it happen with a few people I know who have AS.
I was like that before I was on this site (2008-2009ish) and I cringe whenever I see my old FB statuses from that time.

Speaking of FB...

I've had to re-learn how to use it several times because they keep changing it. You'll get the hang of it soon. It can be a good tool. I usually just use the message feature and post pics, and "like" things... comment on stuff... that's about it. Some people do everything on there.

There's no point using big words if nobody else understands them.
Of course, that may vary with the scenario

In any case, my snow! My snow has melted! Curse nature for melting my snow!
