Thanks for empathising.
I hear this insulting rhetoric every day of my life; I just don't share it. I've learned to see how absurd it is and to start keeping track of all the "stress bombs" she throws. I could write a book about them all.

Correct. She came to the United States as a 6-year-old. She was born in what is now Belarus.

You're right. 2 is my lie but it's kind of true. She quit at 16 because my grandmother had a baby and nearly died (actually she did technically die for a brief time). My mother had to help out because she was the oldest daughter of many little siblings. That's when their family emigrated to California so that my grandmother could recover in warm / dry weather.

There was a rumour at my mother's school that the baby must have been hers, but that's not why she quit.

1) I once fainted in a CPR class because the instructor went into unpleasant details.

Yep. It's a lie. My father was mugged in the laundry room of our building in 1967.
