It feels like, when the world gets a bit worse in some way, and you might have thought that people wouldn't put up with it, like there'd be riots in the street, but people do put up with it, they just adapt, and then things can never go back again because people have demonstrated that there's a new low they will just put up with, so that becomes normal until it gets worse again.

Yeah, I think people can get used to just about anything. Then it’s hard to see how things could be different or better because whatever harmful s**t they’re dealing with is just “normal.”

Food Banks is a prime example of this

It's like it's just normal and accepted that people use food banks

I was poor enough that I needed to use a food bank for a while. It was something I was certainly grateful for at the time.

I don't understand the surprise or shock of such... 'Change'. :?

Or the knowledge on how the collective is helpless and put up with crappiness overall while not demanding better in unison.

No, I guess there's enough evidence that it shouldn't be surprising.

But it's always at least a bit disappointing. To me anyway.

The disappoinment in general is even way less new and far from surprising to me, even.

It's just a matter of faith... And cynicism.
I came from a place with people with a lot of faith, hope and optimism... And I'm the opposite since, well, childhood.

Then I'm past the cycle of faith and cynicism, hope and disappointment.

Already at both paradoxical ends of either thought and sentiment.

What I'm wondering now if there's an entirely new level beyond the two contrasting states. :o

Regardless.

Survival is technically easiest part of all of this. It doesn't require a lot of conscious effort.

It just feels very difficult and really painful that it takes a lot of physical and mental toll -- whether the scarcity, threat, unsafety, pain, whatever triggers some sort of massive stress, anxiety, urgency is real or perceived.

Yeah they are a life saver for people. I have no issue with the people who have to use them

Doing very well thanks bb. Quite a few people on locally. Just on an indoor twig (aerial) in my living room for now. My handle (username) is Piranha. If I get my driving licence back I might go out mobile up Winter hill to get some long distance contacts. :)
