Sometimes I'm outside and there are people everywhere and I realize that every one of these people has somewhere they're going and has done all kinds of things today and is thinking about whatever they're thinking about and has a whole life story and hopes and plans for the future and people they care about and things they're happy about and sad about and worried about ... it's kind of overwhelming. Like I could write a 1000-page book about my life and I'm only 19, and there are 8 billion people in the world. It's really crazy when you think about it

I wonder if time travels at a different pace for different people

I think so. It also changes with age and what you're doing.

It doesn't even travel at the same pace for me consistently.

I've found that time's seemed to have slowed down for me lately

I'm wondering if it's anything to do with me not dissociating as much as I used to do

That would make sense. I know when I'm dealing with dissociating I don't notice the time "when I'm not in the office", so to speak.

The movement of time only feels inconsistent because of our perception, depending on what we are thinking or doing. It's actually always the same.

It's pretty mind-boggling though that it does actually change depending on the speed at which one is traveling. Not that that has practical effects in our lives.

I forgot to come here yesterday because I was playing a time waster of a game that I'm addicted to.

It is a major factor.

I can sense the contrast between levels of dissociative states from not.

And it does affect time perception.

Less pressured, rushed, too occupied or just not being present by checking out because one is wanting to skip it all out, the more distorted time perception would be into something faster.

Wanting to end or skip due to situations or feelings, regardless how overt, is definately a defense mechanism.

I got at least half the basics patted down when it came with time perception.

I just had to figure how to break my habits.

Like my default is usually locking everything into focus, which adds a degree of tension and therefore time distortion...
As opposed to this very present, very grounded and a wider view of focus.

I've even reached altered states where the time is very slow and impatience of boredom to let time pass do not exist.
I want that to be my true default...
