It's 100% understandable why it's happening, but that doesn't make it easier for the people who have to make it. The right decision isn't always an easy decision. If the right decision was always easy fewer people would make wrong decisions.
I'm glad the correct decision is being made, but I still empathize with what that decision represents. I've encountered too many people who let their aggressive, "reactive" shitbeasts kill and maim other animals without consequences because they value their pet's well-being exponentially more than they value the well-being of any other animal (or person).
I'm glad your dad isn't infected with that mindset because personally I'd be fine with putting down the owners with those values as well as their dangerous animals.
