If you get the chance to go hunting, I would say do it. I have always had a great deal of fun on hunts...even the really cold, wet ones where we don't end up shooting a single shot. It is nice to be around other people and know that it is perfectly fine to sit there in silence.

I second this. I've gone hunting only a few times in my life, but I find it to be a fun, relaxing experience. People often scoff and say that it's barbaric, but when you compare it to how animals are treated in slaughterhouses, it's actually much more humane.

I'm going with him and uncle this fall to hunt elk.
Have been kinda too frail heath wise up until now.

Do you EzraS condone this activity and wish to continue participating in it?"

Elk is nice, but moose is better. :P

Great, now I'm craving a steak. I just ate one earlier on, but it was beef. Nicely cooked beef, but not as nice as something taken straight from nature without any antibiotics or whatever.

So, what do you other guys do to feel manly? How do you handle your masculinity, etc? Let's get the conversation going.

I grow beards. That's about it. Sometimes several at once. Apart from that, I'm not a manly man. I do a martial art, but it's not very macho. I like astrology. I would probably knit if I had some needles.

LMAO!! ! That's hilarious! I am also a guy who does anything - not caring whether it's perceived as manly or not. Though I am what most would refer as a rennaisance man. I am a mechanic, construction worker (I have skill in most all construction trades), an artist, a writer, a poet, and I have a real affinity for all the sciences including physics. I do not fit in with mechanic types, construction worker types, or with the "Big Bang Theory" type guys so I just try to stay in the group I created - my one man club! lmao

I just can't grow a beard. My manliness has taken a big hit because of this :(

I sported an Imperial for several years. The stupid thing was more trouble than shaving, what with the trimming and shaping and all. Plus during the summer months it was hot.

Trimming and shaping....what are those?
I just let mine grow mountain man style. When I go gray I'm gonna rival Gandalf.

I work on cars (mine especially given the right time. Love her to death!) and fix things around my place the best I can with the limited tools and equipment I've got. As a result I've become very vigilant and even a little defensive when I let a mechanic or repairman fix something I believe I should've been able to do myself *Tim Allen grunt*. But so far it's been a good learning experience figuring things out using own my hands.

I wish that if I let mine go untrimmed I could look like a rough mountain man, or wizardly like Gandalf. Instead I always just look like a dirty old drunk. :(

Grow a beard, even though it doesn't come in that great
Lift weights
Drink beer
Eat buffalo wings with the hottest sauce they have, no blue cheese
Hike mountains
Yardwork I guess
Football
Buzz my own hair

I used to feel manliest at work, cos I was unloading trucks in the morning then building furniture the rest of the day. Started at an office job a couple months ago and I don't feel very manly there. Such is life.

I'm genderqueer. Whenever I feel like a male on the inside, I dress a tad more "masculine" according to social standards.

I'd kill for either one of those jobs. I have a job but it's unmanly. It's too shameful to even list on my résumé.

um, i like to shoot guns (my uncle owns a lot of them), hunting and fishing as well, i occasionally lift weights, i have been growing facial hair since i was 11 (but i prefer to shave it off), and i like to fix things. i don't know if track and field is considered manly or not...
but i also draw, write, pluck my eyebrows, sometimes i try women's clothes and i recently shaved my legs, because it feels amazing. :o
