Amazon for the win.

Do you ever have that thing happen when you are trying to print something and you keep clicking print but nothing happens and then you realize when and if it finally does print you will likely get 50 copies so you cancel the printer but that's when it decides to work and you actually get 60 copies?

(me too)

(kraftiekortie) Amazon more and more these days. I still buy a fair amount of stuff from a place called CEX though, which deals in secondhand computing and entertainment-related goods.

(Isabella) No, I've never actually used a printer.

Is it easy where you live to get competent tradespeople to do work on your property?

Yes. We're very fortunate that way.

Regarding the printing situation, I have had more annoying printer problems than I can count.

What kind of videos do you like to watch?

I like to watch documentaries, music videos, movie trailers, short animations and educational videos on you tube but my daughter has showed me the Film theory channel and some others and I think it is fun too. But the latter I only watch together with her.
Not long ago I watched the animated movie "The garden of words" on your tube.

Same question.

What's the longest book you've ever read [page length]?

I could say that I read Little Dorrit, which is over 1,000 pages, but I barely got past the first few pages. I've read 800 paged books before.

same question

For fiction, probably Middlemarch (George Eliot) or Vanity Fair (WM Thackeray). They're both around 1000 pages if memory serves me correctly.

Pardise Lost and some of the epic poems are longer.

Same q

"Anna Karenina" is quite a bit over 1,000 pages; it kept me spellbound throughout the book.

It's not the "length" of the book that counts---it's the quality.

I once read an entire biography of Peter the Great, about 800 pages, in one day.

Do you feel a sense of claustrophobia when there is fog? (I only do if the fog consists of polluted air).

Not, really

Would you ever choose to relocate somewhere if, you have the funding and resources to such and possibly where would that be?[/b]

I would like to relocate to a more rural location----but with a good road which is plowed soon after a snowstorm.

Have you ever experienced inconvenience when a road near you wasn't plowed?

Good day, Kortie et al!

I had a transient fear of fog for about two years when I was a teen. I don't know why! Now I love it. Tall, rocky mountains make me claustrophobic like I'm in a bowl. I wouldn't do well in Geneva. Have you heard of Mary Shelley? Her time in Switzerland gave me the willies

The longest biography I've read recently is Juliet Barker's The Brontës. With the preface, introductory essays and end notes it is about 1300 pages. Heaven knows I even read the index.

Did you smell any flowers on your travels today?

Yes, I've been snowed in with snow and ice up to my shoulders and roads not plowed. Not fun living alone post stroke, but always exciting.
