Anything but spicy food.

I have never. I studied in multiple schools and countries and was at the last one for only 2 years. Also had culture difference issues and therefore didn’t like that one. Prolly wouldn’t mind going to visit the first school I was in.

Yes, both primary and high school.
I live in a small town, so meetings, voting, social events, fundraisers, etc., are often held at the schools.
It always surprises me how small my former primary school is now, like it's made for dwarfs, which I suppose it is.

Same q.

I went back to attend my old headmaster's farewell do in the early 1980s. Quite entertaining.

Also went back for an 'open evening' a few years ago. V depressing, the place had become a tightly controlled, very slick, 'professional' business-type setup.

Do you recall school as an enjoyable experience?

Primary school was ok because staff and students were accepting and accommodated me to a great extent.
High school was hell and I ended up dropping out.

You?

Sorry, my computer froze.

Primary has an air of mystery about it. I have mysterious dreams and odd flashbacks about it even though I see the building regularly. My nephew attended one of my high schools and I was in it a couple of times for that. It brought back hollow, empty feelings. I have only been back on my Uni campus once since I graduated and first worked there for a few months.

It makes me sad. I could have had a lot more fun there than I did.

Do you know any ghost stories?

Currently a freshman and I think I'll like college a lot better. Elementary school was okay except for the parts where I was a terrible child....middle school was hell in every way possible......and high school had its good parts and bad parts.

if you were stuck living one year of your life over and over again which would you choose?

I have been to multiple schools and was dragged from country to country. I liked some schools ok although I had the new girl issue everywhere.

I hated high school in particular as it was a traumatic experience to meet the high expectations my parents had. My life was no longer mine.

But I got through it.

Ghost stories maybe - I have had some exp myself. :P

The year I had my daughter

I was academically very successful at all stages of schooling. I was very isolated at primary school, stood on my own in the playground at break times for half a decade (in exactly the same spot). At secondary school, I managed somehow to get into the football team, which I think saved me from the prospect of being bullied and gave me a focus outside the classroom. Still never managed much in the way of social contacts though, certainly after the age of about 13.

Edit: Aaaaargh, as usual this thread is moving too fast to keep up with! :shaking2:

(Isabella): there was a fair bit of indulgence in the 'spirit world' on my maternal grandmother's side of the family.I know she seems to have had some experience of encountering ghosts or spectral presences, but I don't really know the details.

(graceksjp): Probably 1972-73.

At what age did you own your first proper computer?

I was nearly 10. My dad taught me to operate Unix back then. I hated it. But I work with it now so thank god I learnt it back then.

Windows or Unix?

Deep: I'd love to hear the stories sometime.

I stood alone too, or else sat alone where caterpillars climbed in a patch of the school yard.

I spent all of my secondary career (two schools), hidden in libraries between class, and never even attended a dance.
I never ate in the cafeterias, either.

First computer, I think was around 1999. It was the big desktop type of IMac with a bazillion wires. Then I went almost a decade without access to a computer. Second computer is this laptop from 2010. It needs to be replaced soon :(

Do you believe your grandmother's stories? (Ghost stories?)

tell us a ghost story!

I saw one myself once.

Also, I know two people who died and "came back". Their recounts are fascinating.
