slept for 13 hours, solid. had mishmash of dreams about going back in time to the 1990s sometime, being in my parents' old house with them as they were back then and my older siblings except for my sister who curiously was absent. my computer [a 2010's decade model of laptop] refused to boot up after flashing its screen and making strange loud noises, and that frustrated me greatly, so I went to work at the hospital I used to work at, wandered around looking for an unattended computer workstation so I could log on and check my email. then I went back home and spent some time with my late mother in the kitchen, just for old times' sake, then we both went out to the garage, I noticed a few cars that we didn't have back then, she got into her Honda and drove out expertly weaving around the other cars crammed incongruously into that nominal two-car garage. then I awoke.

Dream from few weeks/months in the past:

I dreamt I was the only person on a written <insert name of my native language here> exam in the living room.
I coudn't think of anything to write down for a long time.
I kinda had given up on writing anything.
But then I only had 40 minutes or so left and I suddenly got an adrenaline rush and could think of things to write fast to get a passing -- or maybe even good -- grade.
I wrote like 6 pages. But then I thought it wasn't even good and ripped the pages apart.
Started fresh, but then my teacher said I only have 2 minutes left...
I thought about writing really really fast, but I knew I couldn't make anything out of this situation anymore.

Damnit, hadn't I ripped the pages apart, I would have had SOMETHING to hand in... :skull:

and, now you have made me intensely curious.

i dreamt i was on the periphery of a pep rally that my old high school was hosting. one thing was different....this stadium was huge! huge! for starters, thee was seats all around the field (football). the band music was tearing my eardrums!

so i tried to crawl across the back of the field, for....reasons. the girl who i dreamt of kissing weeks ago was there, and i asked her why she wasn't running. (there was also a track event going on concurrently).

and then i awoke. :?

Last night I dreamed I was on a spaceship with a few other people. We were trying to track down this criminal & lots of things were sabotaged. There was this conspiracy thing going on we were in the middle of.

My girlfriend said I was moaning a lot in my sleep.

I had a dream about an Exodus of sorts. I was in a column of wandering people searching for a fabled last refuge, much like the Exodus of the Bible. The terrain was mountainous and dead, some great calamity had destroyed the land. In the distance a grand circular plateau came into view with water raining down from it's top. Many praised, but disbelief spread quickly, we stayed in the distance for a night. Three adult men, criminals that escaped?, took off in the night towards it, impatient/escaping. They scaled to the top of the structure somehow and swam across a vast lake to an island in the center of the plateau. They began climbing the central structure, their leader disappeared around a bend ahead of the other two and then something spooked the other two. They sat and waited. They became aware of large alien insect like creatures moving around. One panicked and ran, they pounced on him and he was shredded in seconds. The other tried to slowly back into the shadows and disappear back down the slope. Some massive life form with a single hug claw protruding from it's side swung around from the back and grabbed him from behind. On the top of the mountain structure was a small flat plain, their leader had been grabbed by a large white mosquito like creature, it pinned him and then "drained" him through his chest with it's pronged snout. The screaming was unbearable and could be heard from camps far below on the plain. The column moved on the next day, apparently we had some knowledge of the creatures, apparently they had come shortly after whatever calamity had struck the earth. They had desperately fled from some unknown region looking for a planet to conquer for food and resources, when they first observed the earth from light years away it was still pristine. By the time they arrived the planet was already dead and they had exhausted their resources to reach it so they were stuck in a similar situation as the column of human survivors. They were dying the same slow death as humanity and no longer ventured from their artificial plateaus, the large creature was actually a sort of hive mind and was trapped by its own bulk and weakened state dying a slow death.

Yeah, if only I could write. Maybe I can, my subconscious obviously knows how to generate fully fleshed ideas.

just a suggestion- keep a notebook. format the notebook under themes or headers on certain subjects, whatever ideas you get from your dreams and elsewhere, put it in there, under the appropriate header. soon you will have voluminous materials for a novel or novels.

I dreamt I was in some musical place, and listening to some fella tell me I need to google john gardner and his jazzy orchestral interpretations of some Gershwin numbers. so the rest of the night the thought "remember john gardner and his jazzy orchestral interpretations" kept replaying in me noggin.

Well....

Did you?... do that googling when you woke up?

When we were junior high age my sister dreamt that the song "Let it Be" by the Beatles dropped from the number it had been to some other number on the charts. And when she checked the entertainment section of the paper the next day it had indeed dropped to that number predicted in her dream.

And...Happy Birthday! :D

I just did google him.

There are zillions of John Gardners , past and present, listed on the web. The most famous was the British writer who invented James Bond.

But there was an obscure British composer of symphonic music in the thirties (classical type music) as well. Didn't see much information about him.
