Did you know the French for apple is pomme and the French for potato is pomme de terre? Makes you think, what with all this talk about apples and taters seeming like each other. Maybe in the olden days when they were inventing French they thought they were much the same thing except that taters grow in the ground and apples grow on trees. I used to quite like apples but a sour one put me off and I don't bother now. And they get a bit messy to eat once you're getting near the core. I'll never stop liking taters though. No cores to worry about.
