I'll go with the convent thing; it seems like a lie that would naturally suggest itself to you after my references to Christianity.

Ironically, the Bible was my lie; it's on my desk, but not within reaching distance.

No, 1 and 3 are true.

I only wish there were a vintage bookshop nearby! The closest is six miles. I just googled to confirm the distance.

I cycled to mine today. The owner is sick of me.

Mine would be a lovely bike route through a very wealthy neighbourhood and along the riverside toward a marina.
I cycled that route years ago but not since I've had my stroke.

I bet the owner is only too happy for your patronage.

1. When I read books I seldom research or purchase the works cited.

2. When I read books I always know what fraction of the pages I've read.

3. When I read books I have to stop and stim, because I can't do both at once.

The third, because it doesn't seem possible, given that reading is a continuous process.

The owner loves me, but I had a huge falling out with another member of staff there today. :(

3 is true. I have to pace myself stim-free until the ends of chapters, then stim myself crazy before starting the next chapter.

It's an ongoing battle unfortunately when I have to hold the book. The best compromise is when I have a large, hardcover book which I can open on my lap and my hands are free. This isn't ideal either because I need books at a certain distance to accommodate my vision, and with standard font sizes my lap is a little too far away.

Notable exception: The Annotated Wuthering Heights (ed. Janet Gezari).
It was a perfect, hands-free lap-distance hardcover book.

1 is my lie, as I frequently purchase the works cited.

My anxiety sometimes causes me to breathe erratically, gulping down large breaths of air and breathing them out through my nose. This interferes with my reading. Like you, I also find hardcover books are better in dealing with this problem.

1. I'm diagnosed with Tourette's.
2. I'm obsessed with the number nine.
3. I used to spend an hour in the shower every day.

Hmmmm ... that one is interesting.

I'm going against my better judgement to say #1.

#3. I think we're being too morbid here, so I'm going to talk about doggies:

1. My childhood dog was a Jack Russell terrier.
2. My grandparents' dog is a West Highland terrier.
3. I waved at a cocker spaniel while on my bike yesterday.

My lie is #1. I don't think it's morbid that I had surgeries.

2 for Prometheus.
