The '60s! Yikes. That was when Dylan was starting out. The grass was, actually, much greener then (not euphemistically speaking) because there were far fewer chemical contaminants in the water supplies and major watershed areas, and the forests were much larger because the massive urban expansion that has since occurred was yet to really get under way.

Ah, and Jethro Tull was just getting started, as well. Ian Anderson, after whom I'm named, took up the Flute in the early '60s, but the band didn't get any real recognition until the late '60s. They still qualify, I think. I also think I was born in the wrong generation. Music these days makes me sad. :o

Don't be sad! if you don't like today's music, you should look (and listen!) around some more. There's SO MUCH out there, in every genre, and more that couldn't possibly be put into a genre at all. I bet you'd find something you'd like if you went exploring!

Cheers,

-Luke

I also like a great deal of the fashions of the 60s, as well. 8)

It's too bad Brian Wilson's group "The Beach Boys" chose such a goofy name for the band. I am sure many people don't investigate their music beyond the hits they have heard on the radio because of it. This is from my favorite album they made during the 60's. It was incredibly original and creative. It has a lot to say for those who feel alienated. Brian Wilson later battled agoraphobia but overcame it.

Nothing beats Bob Dylan from the 60's. I liked both his acoustic era and his electric era during the 60's. His lyrics were incredible. The Byrds did a great job on his songs too.

Here's a line from my favourite movie

Interviewer: Are you a Mod, or a rocker?

Ringo: Neither...I'm a Mocker!

- the VW Beetle

- Twilight Zone (the series)

- Lassie (the series)

- Some of the music

The thing that makes me appreciate the 60s, is the music and the fashions. There were also the Mods and Rockers in England, back in the decade that grabs my interest. There was music being recorded and performed by The Beatles, The Who, The Rolling Stones, and my personal favourite, The Kinks. Things were probably a little restrictive at the beginning of this particular decade, but I've heard that things got better, as the decade went on. What are your happy memories of this decade? I know that there was a war going on. I'm also interested in hearing from youngsters who idealize the 60s, as well. This thread is reserved for 60s fans.
