Am I in the minority when I though it was going to be a hung parliament? I was surprised rural conservatives where swayed by Labours green policies and broadband. May be their more progressive than they let on I suppose almost anyone next to Abbott seems super Liberal.

I think Keating :) was right when he said Abbott was a intellectual lightweight ( I think he does a good job hiding his Rhodes scholar education ) eg I don't understand why he says Australia does not need a Ferrari broadband speed when the Commodore will suffice, how arrogant absurd and hypocritical he is , he does profess to not been a "tec head" or that IT guy or Bill Gates yet his telling them and industry groups whats best for Australia.

If I was a journalist I'd be asking if most Australians and industry groups want the Ferrari , and Australia can easily afford the Ferrari why settle for the Commodore ?

Is he overreaching with the Commodore analogy I suspect we'll end up with the Tata Nano under his leadership?

We have a result finally.
two of the three independants have gone with Labour and so Julia Gillard is PM.

i didn't think it would be a hung parliament, I thought Julia would just get in but I didn't think it would be like this.

But anyways I think next time more people will vote for either one of the two main parties because they don't want to go through this again

Has the election taken place yet, or are you guys still counting down the days? Never mind. It's already taken place. Are you guys happy with the results?

Not really. Gillard got to form government, but only just. It appears that some people don't think this government will last, as it's so close. Still, I don't mind Labor's policies, well, some of them. It shouldn't be too bad. The other guy was a conservative Christian with some odd ideas.

We'll see how it goes I suppose. It's been a messy election.

Well yes and no I think Kevin Rudd may have taken Labour some what closer to the "old labour ways" which as a greens supporter is not such a bad thing. I suspect Julia is even more phony and insincere than Kevin ever could be I think she will be a big disappointment .

I say bring back Paul Keating a genuine and passionate politician , a man who was frank and fearless , who's downfall was that Australians at that time had tired of his relentless social and economic reforms, hence the rise of the populist right circa mid to late 90's.

Our political system is a joke. Many people are fed up with the Labour party so voted green in protest however the green votes just go to Labour on preferences. So the same old bunch of corrupt halfwits get voted back in. All politicians are self serving liars and the country got held to ransom by two independents in the end. Even though their own electorates voted heavily against the labour party they decided to support labour after they were bought out. Simple bribery at its worst. Now the country is stuck with no certain political power and a mish mash goverment.
