“my cats” by Charles Bukowski

I know. I know.
they are limited, have different
needs and
concerns.

but I watch and learn from them.
I like the little they know,
which is so
much.

they complain but never
worry,
they walk with a surprising dignity.
they sleep with a direct simplicity that
humans just can’t
understand.

their eyes are more
beautiful than our eyes.
and they can sleep 20 hours
a day
without
hesitation or
remorse.

when I am feeling
low
all I have to do is
watch my cats
and my
courage
returns.

I study these
creatures.

they are my
teachers.

My cat Charlie who died today. He was 16 years and one month old. I got him when he was 8 weeks old, when I was at university. Apart from my mother he is the being I have had the longest relationship with.

This is Avalon. I found her at the pound in my city. It was love at first sight! I've had her for nearly six years. She was 9 months old when I got her.

OMG so many cute pets.

Couldn't help but notice the amount of cat owners. I'll have to upload some of mine.

I'd love to see pics of your cats, MissConstrue! You have mentioned them so many times.

Here are my other cats. (Charlie is above).

Rosie, she's nearly 12, and loves sitting in the guinea pig cage.

[img][800:768]http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac243/merrypippin2009/May007.jpg[/img]

Her son Noah, who is a cheeky so and so.

[img][800:768]http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac243/merrypippin2009/FebApril2010023.jpg[/img]

And Theo, who is only 4, and thinks he is still 4 months. :) He is a bit alarmed by snow (and many other things).

[img][800:768]http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac243/merrypippin2009/November10042.jpg[/img]

And these are my rescue guinea pigs.

Eli

[img][800:768]http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac243/merrypippin2009/FebApril2010241.jpg[/img]

And Eli's friend Merry. Merry used to have a chum called Pippin, but Pippin died.

The pictures are a bit large and squished, I'm not sure how else to load them though.

My Avalon is the same way. Sometimes she will allow me to rub her belly briefly, if I am rubbing her ears or her chin at the same time, LOL.
