I'd like a place where the people are progressive and not religiously backward or small minded.

I'd like a place where you don't have to look over your shoulder from fear of getting mugged or shot.

I'd like a place where diversity is celebrated and not treated as an outcast.

I'd like a place where you don't have to be a slave to your job and they treat you like trash for money.

I'd like a place where rents weren't priced ridiculously high.

I'd like a place where alcohol and marijuana are legal and there are safe rooms for those who use harder drugs.

Where am I talking about? Xanadu, right?

Somewhere in Europe. Better food, a deeper sense of history, and a possibly less myopic society.

Somewhere in Canada, Spain or France could be a good alternative to living in England. I haven't been to any of them (with the exception of France when I was aged 7) so I can't be entirely sure. But I've always liked the culture and conditions of these respective countries. Although quite frankly, I'd prefer to get out there and explore more of the world before I think of the possibility of immigrating.

Germany cause it has big cities (important to me) yet most reminds me of my homeland Switzerland ie still has manufacturing (unlike most rich western countries) and became wealthy through smarts as opposed to dumb luck like the Aussies (I could go on but I wont)

In all honesty, and a little bit of sadness, they're a bit more common now then they were a year ago. We're just used to it.

As much as I hate the United States, and pretty much everything it stands for today, I'm mostly happy I was born here. Despite the crappy health care system, and police state mentality, the US is a very big country with a lot of good opportunities.

Canada would been a nice place to be born, but I don't think I could deal with the cold climate. My ultimate dream would be that Canada would invade and take over most of the US, except for the southeast states. That would make me happy.

I notice a lot of people here mention Japan. 20 years ago I would have agreed. Until that time my dream was to live in Japan. But after I had a chance to visit Tokyo, it changed my mind. On the plus side, Japan is a really fun and exciting place. The people are peaceful, and they mind their own business for the most part. On the down side, the people are not as friendly as they might seem. They are way to pushy, they work too hard, and they are just too intensive. Most of the Japanese friends I had at the time, all wanted to immigrate to the US, for better opportunities, more freedom, and a more laid back life style. If I had been born in Japan, I would have probably wanted the same thing. Though now that I think about it. Japan might have been a nice place to be born and raised, and then to move to someplace else.

The Netherlands or Denmark or maybe some other places in Europe could have been nice places to be born. But I've never visited there, so I don't really know. Mexico, or some places in South America could be nice places to have been born too. Lots of laid back friendly people, but the opportunities would sure suck. Unless you were born rich.

I would like to have been born in Monaco. As a subject, as I imagine many people born there are not Monégasque. Because then I would filthy rich with no income tax to pay.

Canada, because there they seem to be seperate from all the chaos that is happening in the rest of world.

I choose the actor. I observe NT's. I listen to their socializing. I practice it, so in social situations I can just emulate/mimic what is expected.
It isn't natural for me, but it enables me to "fit in".
It is VERY tiring and draining, but at least we can appear like them even though it is an act. Like being on the stage.
They can't see it is emulation, and so we are accepted.

I'm not sure. Maybe New Zealand; perhaps Norway or Finland or Iceland. They seem like beautiful places, high living standards, decent governments, pretty safe...

No one outside of Canada wishes to live here? :(
People always say that it's too cold. It's not cold here in Nova Scotia all year round, that's just what the people who show Canada on TV and movies want you to believe. :P
Personally, I wouldn't want to live in a place that's tropical all year round. Too hot and humid.

Actually a few non-Canadians in this thread, have stated that they would have preferred to have been born in Canada.

Personally, society-wise, I would rather live in Canada. Climate-wise, I would rather live in the US, or some similar climate.

"Cold" is subjective. For me anything below 0° C is unexceptablely cold. I'm pretty sure that NS would not meet my climate needs. Some places in BC could come close, but I think would still be too cold for me.

I would agree with you, that a tropical climate would be too hot and humid. My comfort zone is about 0° - 30° C.
