once upon a midnight dreary, while i ponderd weak and weary, over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore, while i nodded nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping as of someone gentty rapping, rapping at my chamber door.

(fretless bass solo)

Ah distintcly i remember it was in the bleak december, and each seprate dying ember wrough its ghost upon the floor, eagerly i wished the morrow, vainly i sought to borrow from my books surcease of sorrow, sorrow for the lenore for the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name lenore. nameless here forever more.

^Mt. Ruapehu in NZ, during the 1996 eruption. Sometimes destruction is pretty under a different light...

Also, y'know those mountains in the Intro to LOTR: The Two Towers? None of that is Digital, It's all as it was when they video'ed it (until it came to the Balrog, of course).

We don't have elk down in New Zealand. Instead we have possums and Keas. The Kea is a pesky little bird, and they'll raid camping sites and take apart equipment, sometimes even tear peices off cars!

I don't know if I have a 'magical creature'. Most of the ones I enjoy looking at I came up with myself for my story (any they're bloody aliens for god's sake!).

*sniffle* Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous! That large top one reminds me of a place in the middle of the North Island where it snows every winter. Ironically enough, it's called Desert Road...

The Warrumbungles in Australia. Not as spectacular as those American mountains though.

Mt. Erebus, an active volcano in Antarctica. I thought the heat generated by it might make it a good place to start a brand new country in land officially disclaimed by any one nation, which there isn't much left of in the world.

*sigh* Mt. Erebus. A DC10 crashed on that mountain once due to fog or something similar. It was the worst NZ disaster ever, but ironically it happened outside of NZ borders.
