Deep fried in batter??

Yes, I believe. That, and I've heard of deep-fried Coke, on that note....

Noooooo ew ew ew! Fish and chip batter is meant for savoury things.

And that coke thing sounds like normal batter made with fizzy liquid, that's how they usually coat fried fish.

Ever heard of a battered Mars bar? Awful it is.

L.A. also has a great hot dog stand named Pink's, while I have not had it yet, it sure sounds fantastic t'me.

Seattle also has Ivar's, which serves up great seafood, IMO.

Eaten there a few times. The route I used to drive for my old job, I'd pass by it right before lunch. Traffic was always awful so I'd be stuck on that block, smelling the onions cooking and going mad with hunger, for ages.

Aah....... so the area around Pink's has bad traffic. I'll remember that the next time I go there.

Bad parking too. West Hollywood and the surrounding area is the only part of LA where I prefer to take the bus, just to avoid that.

Your fave restaurants?

Depends.
I've been leaning more toward smaller locally owned establishments instead chain restaurants.
We have a good Mexican place that I go to frequently in the past year. That and a few good local pizza places, etc.
The chain restaurants i still use are Longhorn or Outback once in a while for steak but I might find a local replacement for them. For burgers and fries I like Five Guys. It's still fast food but they are a smaller chain than Micky D's, Wendy's, or Burger King but their food is of better quality.

There's a place called F.X. McCrory's in Seattle....... but I haven't tried it yet. It is near Safeco Field, so I shall try it one day.

I love eating Burger King; their burgers seem to be quite tasty for a fast-food place. :D

Any other notable restaurants from where you live?

Does Starbucks count as a restaurant? It's more a cafe. It's one of my favorite places.

Saizeriya - a very cheap pasta and pizza franchise

Sweets Paradise - an all-you-can-eat cake restaurant - they have ~30 different cakes that you can eat with drinks and light meals included

Minatozushi - a very cheap sushi franchise - unbelievably cheap

Applebees :) Yeah at least for a while. I LOVE their fiesta chopped chicken salad! Got a bit of a kick! This may change at any notice :P

I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian so I eat anywhere that carries food that caters to my diet.

Did they ever find a buyer for Twinkies now that Hostess is no more?

I've heard that Scotland is notorious for deep-frying things.
