Nope; it's just a huge lie.

That's what we've been conditioned to believe.

I dont think the world is going to end in our lifetime. Im holding out hope for first contact with aliens or something world changing like that though. I think its kind of a strange coincidence that the giza pyramid alignment happened this month too.

Well, the last time the Mayan Long count calender completed a cycle it was September 18th 1618, and I dont think the world ended then, the time before that it was June 15th 1224, and I dont think the world ended then either, so I suspect it wont end this time either.

Of course, the powers that be, and that have been getting us all worried about this day, maybe they have something bad planned, to help start another war or cover the economic collapse, maybe by getting us to expect something bad, then when it does, instead of blaming them, we will all think it was fate, or written in the stars or something.

I give the Bible more credence for setting the date for the end of the world, firstly you have to wait for a Global Government as per Revelation 13 and 17, that is allowed to reign for 42 months, it is followed by Jesus reign which lasts for a thousand years, so I wouldnt go worrying about the end of the world just yet.

(Although of course the tribulations of Daniel 12 mights soon start and that might seem worst)!

that's probably the best reasoning i've heard about all of this nonsense. I mean there seems to be no evidence for the end of the world this year from what i could find. just unsubstantiated statements.

I think probably not, and it doesn't matter to me. If it doesn't, my life will go on as before. If it does, I won't be around to worry about it. But if there is some cataclysm, in which the world doesn't end, but life can't go on as before, I guess I'd have to figure that out as I went along. Still, I doubt it.

Hehe.

I don't, but I kind of believe that if enough people DID truly believe it, then it could be so (at least the end of humankind as we know it). There would be no need to carry on as per usual for the last few months, so all the current systems we have in place would break down. All sorts of crazy stuff could happen, just because people thought the world was ending.

That is very smart of you, I totally can relate to them beliefs and mindstate can have an impact or the dynamic/realities of life.

I will admit I am scared that it will happen. That's why I'm not going to school that day. My teachers can just deal with it :)

Good link. Thanks. I agree with the page you linked to that it's irresponsible and even dangerous to scare people with these predictions, some can be so impressionable. I'll never forget the Heavens Gate suicides - over a comet! That (the comet Hale-Bopp) and a charismatic character who convinced people of his personal delusions. That happened near where I lived at the time. To me a comet passing was an astronomical event I wanted to see, a fascinating real-universe occurrence. Those people turned it into a crazy thing.

Besides which, a space ship as part of a religious belief? I can't help recalling Captain Kirk saying, "What does God need with a space ship?"

The 2012 end-of-the-world myth started making the rounds decades ago. I recall people talking about it in relation to the Mayan calendar when I was in high school in the 70s. I will be so glad, on 12-22, when that is finally disproved. But I'm sure someone will immediately come up with another doomsday prediction.

There are a couple of such members on this site who have got themselves worked up into a frenzy about this forthcoming non-event. They will no doubt be feeling somewhat silly and embarrassed on the 22nd. Unless of course they've got another end of the world event lined up for the future for them to go bat-shit crazy over too.
