Finally, some variety and colour. Hate jellyfish though. Anyone here been stung by a bluebottle?

You can't get stung by bluebottle flies.

It's a 'simple' creature with stinging tentacles. It is popularly considered a jellyfish, ergo, it IS a jellyfish anecdotally, if not scientifically. Anyway, if you're being stung by one, which I have (twice), you don't stop and ask 'what was the genus of that b*****d stinging thing?'.

I was going to ask that same question. I used to be exactly the same way with Routemasters, Routemasters, ROUTEMASTERS, so I know by personal experience how challenging it can be. My obsession with Routemasters is as strong as ever, just like Sopho's Cat Obsession, but I've learned to post about them every two to three days, though I get a little carried away for three to five posts.

Lots of other people on here like cats.
I could post loads and loads of threads about All Saints Church, but no one would reply so I refrain from doing that. I know other people on here like cats though.

Here's a thought - we should have a forum dedicated to Pets & Animals since a lot of aspies seem to enjoy animals more than people. Mods, what do you think?

Also, lots of people here enjoy cats and the cat threads, so if you don't, simply don't read cat-related posts, k?

Let's keep those cat/duck/jellyfish/routemaster threads coming!! !

I know what you mean. I've been stung by those three times. The worst one was when I raked my hand through the water and right through the the tentacles. That hurt.

The worst time was about '93, when I was 10. Got hit on the neck and the arm. I had a welt for a few days.

Yeah. There's actually a mixture that really helps with that - vinegar and something. I can't remember off hand, but it's really useful.

Here's my stance: if we're Aspies, we should grasp that we each have our obsessions and that it may not be what other people care about. Furthermore, we should all be able relate to that Aspie tendency to have to, even need to talk about that obsession, even if to the point of exhuastion. I think it ought to be respected and tolerated. My only exception to this is if that obsession is graphic (sexual or violent), overtly offensive or sociopathic (and I recognize that these types of obsessions are not common at all among Aspies, but rather often are indicative of emotional or psychological problems).

I'm responding to your post specifically for a reason, because you're a good example of what I'm talking about. I've seen you talking about Routemasters in countless of posts, including when it was off topic, but I have never held it against you. I understand because I'm an Aspie. I'm just like you. That's very thoughtful and mature of you to make conscious efforts to curb that tendencies now that you're becoming aware of how they can affect others, but I'm personally not expect you to do that. I know how hard these things can be for Aspies to learn, and everyone's at their own stage of personal development. I haven't the slightest interest in Routemasters, but so what. I'm not going to berate you or think less of you because of my own lack of interest in your obsession. The point is that both you and I are here as fellow Aspies, and I respect you and let you be who you are at whatever stage in your personal development you are at.

And that goes for anyone else.

On the other hand, what I don't have much patience for is whining, and I have even less for threads started for the sake of whining. Like I said to another whiner who was sniffing over all the cat threads, if you don't like it, start threads about something you're intersted in. No one's stopping you. Do something constructive with your energy and time instead of being an a$$. Please.
