People with congestive heart failure are not supposed to eat foods high in sodium, specifically because of this problem. Anybody can pack on water weight eating a high-sodium diet, but folks with CHF are particularly at risk and the dangers are more severe.
Dietary choices have consequences. People with extensive health problems combined with poor executive function can very quickly get in a bad way. ASS-P's dietary choices were poorly considered, and I think stating the resultant weight gain is unrelated is a bit disingenuous. Ezra made more than one mention of the high sodium content, and for someone with ASS-P's particular health profile that one's a major red flag.
Agreed, his recent diet has likely made the problem significantly worse than it otherwise would be at the moment.. my point about diet was that it wasn't as if he's rapidly gained fat mass by overeating and under exercising. But, you & EzraS are right, a high sodium intake lately has likely amplified the fluid retention.
