I can't remember exactly but it was a fair few years ago.

Sounds like the 2008 5.2 magnitude quake , the epicentre was near Market Rasen in Lincolnshire - happened about 1 am

As a Celtic mutt, I have learned that England has The National Autistic Society (NAS), Wales has NAS and Autism Cymru, Scotland has NAS and Scottish Autism, Ireland has Autism Ireland and the Isle of Mann has Autism in Mann.

My favorite, though, is I Am Me Scotland, an autism hate-crime advocacy group. Its law-enforcement and governmental connections are "more than a wee bit amazin'."

It is interesting to me that British and Irish autism groups seem to be significantly more political than many of their American counterparts which are still stuck in research and apologia. Yes, American autists have the Autistic Self Advocacy Network and autistic leaders like Temple Grandin and Jim Sinclair, but such groups seem light years ahead of American groups.

I'm in Lincolnshire and I slept through this, didn't know a thing till I came into town in the morning and lots of the Victorian houses had lost their chimneys.

I slept through the storm in 87 as well.

I wasn't asleep at 2.30pm today but I didn't know a thing about it until I read it here.

Yeah I remember the 87 storm - think I slept through that one actually.

I don't think you would have felt today's quake as it was quite subtle - my friend was sat in my front room with me didn't feel it, she just heard the bookcase creak. It was a slight rumble under my bottom so could have been a number of things - I doubted it at first.

I slept through the 1987 storm but I remember the aftermath. We were sent home from work as there was no electric. I went out for a drive to see what damage the storm had caused but couldn't get very far as every single road into the town where I lived at the time was blocked by thousands of fallen trees. There were a number of end of terrace houses nearby that had been badly damaged with the end walls completely destroyed by the wind. Somehow my dad's greenhouses with his beloved cacti collection had survived completely unscathed despite being in a very exposed position.
