I worry that nicotine patches might make me want to smoke more. I know for a while when I was in a psych ward they either had patches or nicotine gum because you can't smoke in a hospital. And even with the gum it helped a little, like better than having no nicotine when you're used to it...but still every time I was chewing on it I just kept thinking how much I'd rather have a cigarette. So far the only thing that seems to be helping me cut down is vaping as an alternative...sure its not as good as being totally nicotine free, but I like to puff on something and it provides a less damaging alternative.
