much more useful storage that way.
Indeed! I may mount this bed cap on my other Hombre (a '99 model), if I get it running soon. This Winter, I'd like to drive the '99 cross-country to Northern Vermont, and leave it there. I'd like to have a vehicle I can leave in the Northeast for when I'm visiting friends out that way.
Having the bed cap and a trailer hitch on the '99 will allow me to make money on the trip, rather than just spending it.
I am a shipper for uship.com, and it's great to be able to haul some smaller loads long range like this, and have my fuel costs (and then some) covered by the delivery fees.

I have one on the Ranger. Thinking about maybe adding an external ladder/gear rack over top of the canopy later - something probably custom fabricated.
I have a similar plan. I've had the ladder rack that my '97 Hombre came with on and off the truck during the nearly 4 years I've owned it:
The rack is at times very useful, such as when I carried a very long railroad tie on it, then dug a hole for the tie, and slid it off of the ladder rack directly into the hole, to become a huge gate post:
I'd like to be able to have both a ladder rack and a bed cap on the wee trucklet, for long range delivery trips, so I decided I want one of these "Universal" Harbor Freight ladder rack kits
meant for a full-sized truck.
The flexibility of the kit, plus some minor fabrication and welding should allow the ladder rack to be mounted to the pickup's box rails all the time, with the vertical legs of the ladder rack OUTSIDE of where the bed cap will sit.
So, the bed cap can come on and off as needed, without disturbing the ladder rack.
And, if I make the legs of the ladder rack detachable from the base that they plug into, the rack should also be independently detachable from the truck, regardless of the presence of the bed cap.
