It may not make sense, but it definitely works.

cuz women think men r obsessed w/ boobs and want to hide them from us.
the funny thing is its women who dont have good boobs who mostly think that.

and now that i think about it, some native places where us white ppl never took over still have women who dont wear tops. they never decided it was a sexual thing, and it never become one. the only reason it is is because women made it so.

I would probably pin that on feminist principles of gender equality, especially in the workplace. Now it's just so common it's not a big deal anymore. (but it kind depends on the job too)

I wouldn't mind wearing something like a skirt or kimono/yukata. Might be more comfortable than what I normally wear, especially in humid heat... but I won't because I'll be socially shunned way too much.

I think the primary reason that boobs must be covered is that women are judged based upon the appearance of their boobs. Many women wear special brassieres that lift their boobs and cause them to protrude. Having the boobs exposed would spoil the illusion.

National Geographic vs South Beach (Miami)

Which boobs are you talking about, the tennis ball in a sock or plastic inserts?

BTW, I did topless in South Beach at bf insistance, and it's not that I mind being topless while tanning, I just felt inferior because mine were perky and natural, not purchased and implanted.

I would like more topless beaches, but I think walking around every day with them bouncing would just allow gravity to work even faster.

Shirtless would be totally cool, because the world could finally see those expensive and adorable bras that go hidden but look better than my shirts!!

I've heard once that, evolutionary speaking; female breasts are a replacement for the buttocks/hips. Our ancestors, much like today's apes, moved around stooped on their hands and the buttocks was prominently exposed. This shape is more prominent when females are sexually mature signaling to males that they are old enough to mate. As the species started to stand upright, and face-to-face contact became more prominent, the breast started to swell in size, likewise signaling to the males that they are ready to mate. So today, both the breast and the buttocks are attractive aspects of the female body.

The western religions have specified that lust is a sin and that anything that promotes lust is sinful and therefore outlawed. Today’s laws follow that tradition. We are just recently, last 100 years, been progressive enough to move away from these laws. But religious groups are still the major opposition to allowing nudity. I've even heard that even in private, some religious groups believe that couples should be mostly covered when having sex.

Personally, I think these laws are ridiculous. But I also am not interested in seeing men’s bare chests. Those ugly things should be outlawed. Just kidding, but just barely. No pun intended.

If women did bare their chest on a regular basis, they wouldn’t be nearly as sexy as if they’re hidden. The imagination is the greatest sex ally.

Most women I see anymore are hardly wearing clothes as it is. It bothers me because they seem to have very little decency. But I'm also bothered by guys yanking off their shirts sometimes-I don't want someone's sweat all over my furniture with nothing in between to at least get some of it. I also don't dig going out to eat and seeing someone topless running around if it is an outside cafe of some sort. For some reason it just strikes me as indecent and disrespectful... then again, it could be the personalities of those I usually see running around like that.

On the other hand however, why is it socially acceptable for females to wear guy clothes, but not so much for guys to wear female clothes? At one point, females were not allowed to wear pants-why did that change for only one sex?

Guys get more pockets.. but girls get more variable choice. Think about it.. is there really any further variation in guy clothing than "shirt, trousers, footwear."? Girls get to accessorise as well.. hairbands are a great invention, especially if you have long hair, but I aint wearing one because.. well.. its a wee bit ghey.

Depends where your at. I was in Cancuun last Fall and most of the woman who lived there were topless on the beach. Americans are way behind when it comes to accepting the human body without shame or lust. (me included)
Europeans think we, as Americans, are prudes and way to obsessive about linking breasts with sex. Last I checked they do serve other functions.

I like not wearing a shirt or bra sometimes, but it is totally against my religion, which is a problem. Apparently no one is supposed to be shirtless ever, except when swimming. I think that wearing clothes when it is over 100 degrees and humid is ridiculous. That's when I stay inside the house in my underwear and hope no one comes over. I wish clothes didn't "make the man" but they do and that is why everyone should wear shirts. Otherwise, people would think they are sluts or something. When it becomes socially acceptable, I would gladly walk around topless in the summer, but that's not going to happen anytime soon.

I think it's sexist but I also think it's sexist that guys with breast implants can be shown topless on TV but women cant.

Because in our "modest" western society men's nipples are not seen as sexual. (Or at least not *as* sexual as women's breasts). Personally I couldn't care less that women can't go topless. It's mostly young and stupid women who want their bare boobs for all the world to see, anyway. When you get older you cover them up not just because you're somewhat smarter, but also because they start to sag and droop like a couple of sand bags.
