chatting doesn't exist in my life :P i or talk important talk or i just don't talk.
i would only use a chat service to "talk" if the person is too far of a distance to talk to.

I have a phone. It has been on Do Not Disturb for six years.

No, I hate it. My parents put a phone in my room but I quickly disconnected it because the ringing is shrill and hurts my ears. In addition, the only ways I can really feel comfortable communicating are via direct human interaction and email, and occasionally other forms of internet chat and through writing. I've never enjoyed talking on the phone, and I like to have other people talk on the phone for me because it really annoys me. I don't like talking on the phone because it gives me anxiety and I become more shy and uncomfortable. Also, it's hard to understand when to and when not to speak on the phone, and since I already have enough problems with interruption or lack of response in face-to-face, phones only heighten the problem. My parents bought me a cell phone a few years ago and I never use it and I constantly ask them if I can get rid of it, but sadly I have to keep it in case of an emergency. I also don't understand the appeal of texting, because you can only write very brief messages and nobody uses proper spelling. Now that I come to think about it, email is my favorite by far.

Is this the right forum?

Also, depends on the circumstances.

No, I hate it.
I give my number out to very few people.
And my cell phone only goes with me if I'm driving a moderate to long distance.

I think I have used the phone a dozen times in the past 18 years... three to call 911, the others in lesser emergency/no-choice type settings.

Telephones are depressing.

There's something not right about talking down the phone, it is an irritating feeling and something which has always made me feel very anxious! :x I often get mad talking down the phone, I also hate the sound of the phone ringing.

This is probably extremely unusual for someone with Asperger's, but I prefer chatting with people face-to-face than on a phone or online, usually just one person over a cup of tea. Maybe I just don't like technology much except for video games and YouTube.

Depends who I'm chatting to. Generally I prefer text or e-mail.

Chatting on the phone feels like a waste of time. People who seem too lazy (or indifferent) to see me complete their "social duty" by calling up.

I don't like chatting on the phone & I much rather text messaging or Yahoo messenger unless it's with a romantic partner; then I'd like to hear her voice & laugh so I voted for No
