I've had a bit of a transition in terms of drinking.

Before I turned 21, I drank heavily at big club parties for the marching band I was in. I even did a keg stand once, but it was under a margarita machine. Good times... anyway...

On my 22nd birthday I went out to a bar with my sister, boyfriend, and a friend from the band. The three of them got me so drunk that I could hardly walk. I threw up all night and continued to throw up in the morning. I was sick until I went to bed the next day.

I haven't drank more than half a drink since. That was almost a year ago now. The thought of another cherry vodka sour makes me nauseous still.

I don't drink alcohol much but I smoke weed everyday. When I do drink though, I like drinking to the point where I'm f****d up.

I am too sensitive to drugs and alcohol. When I did, it was to get splattered and did it a few times, realized it was pointless, and quit.

But my brain is damaged by whatever monster invaded it when this hit and if I do stuff- anything- drink, smoke pot, do drugs, eat , work out, study Greek, count blades of grass- whatver I do, I do it in extreme excess.

My last boyfriend was a very happy man.

I consider myself to be a social drinker...I limit myself to weekends though and know where my limits are. I'll only get 'trashed' so to speak if i'm around people who accept it and when the mood calls for it. I love when situations can become very amusing/trippy under the influence...plus you can let your Aspie self go and blame weird behaviour on your drunkeness the night after...and people buy it :P

I highly reccommend watching Requiem For a Dream and/or Beetlejuice drunk.

I like beer and I like wine...but both make me stupid...so I don't drink, unless I am alone and hopefully chained to a post somewhere.

There are people that can drink and not make an a$$ out of themselves...I am not one of them.

I quit drinking alcohol and doing drugs 17 years ago, as of this past June. I have 1 glass of wine or a similar beverage once a year - at Christmas - and I don't even finish that off. I can't stand the smell of alcohol anymore, and the smell of marijuana gives me an instant migraine.

Drug-free is me.

I have never drunk, smoked or taken drugs. If someone says that makes me a loser I just think, well at least I will still be healthy when I am older. I don't see what the big deal about alcohol is in Britain anyway, it just makes you act like a twonk...

I would say the same thing. Besides, when you compare the older healthy guy to the drunk stoned social guy, who's the real loser?

I drank increasingly heavily from 18-26.
Didn't become a problem until the final two years.
Then it became a really big problem.
So I quit. Been sober for 11 years.
Those who have never tried it because they're afraid they'll like it: probably a good call. You are missing out on one good thing (the buzz and the accompanying relaxation/ reduction of inhibitions/ increased ability to socialize) but as with all drugs, the benefits are realized up front and you will have to pay later. Short-term payment is the hangover. Long-term payment, should you become addicted, comes due in depression, physical and mental health problems, and complications/failures in relationships, employment, etc. For some the addiction is fatal.

I have been drinking for reasons of taste (good beer, not common US domestic beer) and reasons of loneliness. I'm currently working on drinking only for taste, but the loneliness makes it difficult.

I dont drink I have always hated the taste, when I was 18-19 drinking age is 18 in Australia I had a few drinks to try and fit in now I judt openly say I dont drink. Also as I am already vulnerable to what I now know to be AS (diagnosed at 22) I wouldnt want to put myself in greater potential danger. also as a probationary driver I have to have .00 when drving so it is kinda useful for me I guess.
