I love Summer even though it's scorching hot here but i also like October-November as well now that i'm no longer a student and stopped associating fall with school.

Do you like horror movies?

I do not like horror movies. They gave me really bad nightmares as a kid.

Do you like wearing sweaters when you're cold?

My audiology report looks similar to that, Isabella from what I recall. I had my tests done about five years ago. The last time I saw my hard copy report it was in a drawer at home. I'll see if I can dig mine out if I remember (not at home now).....

Regarding tinnitus: Even though I've had it all my life and I've never known anything close to "silence", I have sympathy for people like you, Isabella that developed it later in life. I used to belong to a tinnitus and hyperacusis forum and it was heart wrenching to hear from so many people that developed tinnitus later in life and were having such a hard time coping with it.

As you know, tinnitus is always there. It never stops. However, I have habituated to mine such that I can go sometimes a day or more where I then realize that I haven't consciously thought about or been consciously aware of the ringing. I then feel very thankful and I take a moment to think of how glorious that time was that I wasn't thinking about my tinnitus.

People who develop it later in life have a much harder time habituating to the noise and sadly, it's not a joke that some of them take their own lives because of it.

Regarding the question:

In general I refuse to go places that are going to be extremely stressful environments for me.

I ask my family to stop yelling in the house and sometimes they don't?

Kortie was kind enough to read and interpret my hearing test for me. It says I have mild hearing loss in the higher frequencies. I suppose this wasn't the test where they checked my tinnitus frequencies. I'll have to look for that one, but in the meantime I will also try your internet site for gauging the pitch. Yes, developing tinnitus out of the blue one night was traumatic and I was quite suicidal in the beginning. I thought I'd never habituate but now I must admit there are times I don't think about it.

I love hand drawn animation but lost interest with CGA and Pixar etc. I liked Charlie Brown, The Flintstones, Winnie the Pooh and early Disney. The first Disney that couldn't hold my interest because of computer animation was Toy Story and I've had trouble with Disney / Touchstone / Pixar ever since.

My audiology report looked similar to yours and they tested for hearing loss just like you. They also tested for and confirmed hyperacusis. I don't recall them actually testing for tinnitus for me. The hyperacusis test was easy because they gave me some sort of button to press to stop the sounds when they got uncomfortably loud in the headset.

Since tinnitus is internal, a "perceived" sound, I don't recall if they gave me tests for that or what that test would have been like. I'll have to think about that some more.

I thought you'd like this. A vinyl picture disc. I did not buy it, but I was tempted.....

Magna,
I did the Hertz sound generator. The closest I can match is 6362 hz, but of course I have fluctuations and it often whistles like a fax machine sound in one ear at a time (although I know it's central and brain-based).

What was your number? I forget.

same q about animation.

It's hard to pinpoint, isn't it? I have a good portion in a lower range at around 1750 Hz but it's such a blend of tones, some of them are at or even above the range you're hearing mostly.

Masking is a pretty fascinating thing in that if a person really did have s single pure tone for their tinnitus (not me) and they could pinpoint that tone, the inverse of that tone, if played in a sound generator of some kind, would cancel out the ring of the tinnitus. That would be great to have relief that way.

I like some animation. Things like:

an animated film called Fantastic Planet
Yellow Submarine
Old Disney animation
Peanuts

Does caffeine keep you awake at night if you have it too close to bedtime?

I have the album on vinyl (two copies I believe) and I would have bought that one too! (Restraint isn't one of my skills).

I'm quite sure I did have a tinnitus test in a little booth where I had to click the button to match the pitch.
I think the test was done at a totally different location than the one I posted, but those years are a blur for me.
Maybe my high frequency loss is because the tinnitus blurs the other sound?

My drink would be a Whiskey Sour or a Long Island Iced Tea. I can't drink rum.

I only have one coffee a day and it's when I first wake. I do have tea later on though, and it doesn't bother me.

I rarely drink alcohol. I'll maybe have a drink six times per year in all. When I do have a drink it would be a scotch "straight up" to nose and sip slowly, or a scotch and soda (quite tasty and refreshing). I don't like beer or wine. On very rare occasion a good sherry is nice.

I limit my caffeine intake. If I don't watch it, I'll crave coffee and tea all the time. Then on a day or few days when I can't have it as often I'll develop a crushing caffeine withdrawal migraine.

Caffeine doesn't affect my ability to sleep. I can drink strong coffee right before sleeping and if I'm already tired, it doesn't keep me up.

What kind of desserts do you like?

I barely drink either. I'll drink a bit before a concert, or have a sip of wine a few times per year. Very rarely I'll have a beer with my nephew on my birthday or something, but I don't love it.

Desserts: anything butterscotch, caramel or apple is good. I'm not so much into chocolate.

Usually a yogurt for dessert and sometimes I'll bake a homemade cake for the family for a special treat. I like to keep healthy so don't usually have fatty desserts.

Have you ever raised money for charity?
