I've passed through them many times. I really haven't actually stayed there all that much. Some day, I want to stay in a cabin in the Endless mountains, which are north of the Poconos, and just south of the New York border.

Have you been to the Catskills?

@Korts,
I'm looking at a map. I have family in PA. I've been to Wilkes-Barre and to Albany NY, so I likely passed the Catskills en route. I don't really remember anything specific though. I've been to Poconos. My indelible memory is of the song "You Are Always on My Mind" (the Willie Nelson version), which I heard while I was there in the Poconos.

I don't know Stansted Airport at all.

I went to Smuggler's Notch in VT, but during the summer.

Have you heard of Tabatchnick soup?

Wilkes-Barre has many Victorian-type houses. The city has been through hard economic times. I like the place--what I saw of it---though.

Would you live in a modular home (common in PA)?

Tabatchnick soup were a very common item in NY supermarkets until recently.

What constitutes a modular home? I'm googling pictures but I'm not sure what they have in common. My Aunt and Uncle in Bucks County had a two storey traditional home. My cousins are now grown and they all seem to have large two storey homes with dormer windows and verandas. One of my cousins is married to a construction man / carpenter and he custom-built their home with all bespoke furnishings and a sauna. It's pretty incredible. I have some good memories of PA.
That's where I first heard Disco Duck

Have you ever made or flown a kite?

I loved flying kites when I was a kid. When we had our cabin cruiser and would fish on Lake Superior, my Dad had a bunch of more ocean level fishing equipment including huge spools of fishing line. I believe the spools held 1,000 yards of line. I tied a kite to a spool of that fishing line and flew the kite out to the end of the spool. Over 1/2 mile in the sky! So much fun!

Tabatchnick soup-what is the origin of it? Is it Russian?

Is anyone here of Russian descent?

I don't know if I've had Borscht but I love beets / beetroot.

Ever had lobster bisque?

I had it, most notably, at the Bear Mountain Inn.

Do you like the rustic type of elegant restaurants?

I like rustic anything.

Sorry Korts but I'll have to chat later! I'm off to see my brother!

Next: Do you like carousels?

They’re pretty cool.

Ever heard the term Sliding Pond? (If you have, you’re a true New Yorker  )

Yes I have. A good bisque is divine. My favorite bisque of all time was from a small restaurant that had made wild morel mushroom bisque. It was so good I ordered a second bowl and was so good I asked to talk to the chef and told him in person that I thought the bisque was superb. I had NEVER done anything like that before or since. Sadly, the restaurant hasn't been in existence for years. I will always have that memory though.

I do NOT like cream based soups that are overheated/micro-curdled (known as "split" in the restaurant biz). Kind of like whip cream or meringue. Both have a point of where they're perfect, but if taken past that point, they're disappointing.

Yes, carousels are cool. This is a great one in a place I've traveled to a few times. It's indoors and all hand carved wood. It's housed in a HUGE toy store called Lark Toys in a small town in the Mississippi River bluff country called Kellogg, MN

I have never heard of a sliding pond.

Have you ever had a "lobster roll"? I never have since I've never been to the east coast.

Yep. Lobster rolls are quite prevalent in Maine.

A sliding pond is simply a slide in a playground. Why they call it that in NYC is anybody’s guess.

Have you ever paid a lot for a muffler?
Ever say “on line” to mean “in line,” or “queued up”?
