I'd stop trying to reconnect with my old Best friend and stop myself from going to law school.

Thinking about that question, and my answer, one form of thereapy that was very helpful to me over the years was psychodrama - where you get to act out stuff and the opportunity to bring in that future you and act out a scene. Just musing out loud what a good scene that would be...

I would not because I would not know what the consequences would be.

Same question.

No. They taught me. And I'd have to learn from the same mistakes in other, maybe more painful ways.

If given the capacity to go back in time and only alter other lives, would you do it?

No, I would never want to change anyone else's life. That's not my place.

My life: go back to last March and ask someone for directions home from my Toastmasters meeting so I didn't get lost.

Other's lives: Just be a better person. Maybe my mother and sister would still be alive today.

Same q. yourself or other's lives

I wouldn't change anything, because of the butterfly effect.

What shows did you watch when you were a kid, and are there any that you wanted to watch but never got to for whatever reason?

I used to watch Rocket Power, Hey Arnold!, CatDog, Rugrats, Powerpuff Girls (yes, I DID watch that  ), Dexter's Lab, Ben 10, Pokémon series, and much more.

And I used to watch educational shows like Little Bear, Blue's Clues, Franklin, and Arthur, and others I can't remember.

And I wished I get to watch every single episode of Pokémon on Saturday morning at peace!

Same question.

Blue's Clues, Franklin, Arthur, Dragon Tails, Clifford, Zaboomafoo, Little Bear, Saunya/Sawnya/however you spell it. Oh, and Pokemon, which I could only get at the library, and there were only a few VHS tapes. Oh, and Digimon, but there were only two VHS tapes at the library, and then I discovered the original Japanese when I got into anime, and wondered how I had ever liked the dub.

If I had known it existed at the time, probably Avatar: The Last Airbender.

I grew up before VCRs or recordings of any sort. I always wanted to see The Sound of Music and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on television but I wasn't allowed to change my bedtime, so I never got to see past the first half hour of either one. I still haven't seen them.

I saw Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the drive-in when it first came out.

I also saw Rosemary's Baby at a drive-in. It really scared me.

My parents also left me in the theater to watch Oliver! when I was 7. That movie sort of scared me as well.

VCR's didn't really become popular until I was already in my 20s.

Would you want to go back in a time machine to a time before VCR's?

I think the world was a better place because there was no instant wish-fulfilment prior to internet and recorded shows. If you wanted to learn something you had to walk to a library and exert yourself, copying information by hand. If you wanted to watch something you had to wait months or even years to see it on television, and even then there was no rewind or pause. You had to pay attention and appreciate things as they happened. Yes, I'd love to go back in time for those reasons.

It was cool listening to the transistor radio by my window.

I wanted to go out to the fire escape--but my parents didn't allow me.

I got home early once when I was 6, went out in the fire escape, then came back in my window. My parents thought I had arrive home after 6 (I had to be home by 6). My father hit me with the belt that night. If I told them I was out on the fire escape, I would have probably gotten a worse whipping.

Yes. I liked it when kids could just go out and play for hours without having to call their parents all the time.

Same question.

I walked to school alone from the time I was five. My brother left with his friends at a different time but I liked being alone because I could go through the woodlot and see turtles. We used to play Hide and Seek in the pitch dark in our area which included my grandfather's workshop annexe, full of machinery and tools. My brother climbed through an outdoor gap into my auntie's attic and fell straight through to the floor. Beyond caring for his broken bones no one thought twice about what he'd been doing. It was considered normal to explore. We spent years on our cabin cruiser boat and running around random islands or marinas on our own. I even remember going on strangers' boats to look about.

Those were the days.

I wish you would have seen the show "Flipper." It had a witty dolphin, lots of boats, and kids who learned things because they were free to learn things and take risks.

I'm not some old-fashioned curmudgeon-like old man. When people meet me, they usually think I'm very youthful.

I lament the loss of childhood freedoms because of perverts.

Did you, as a kid, learn a lot while exploring on your own?

No, because I never really went anywhere on my own.
