I got up because I thought I have school at 8. My friends called and said it's 9. It's beginning of the day but I'm sooooo tired. I'm walking around and singing Atzen Party or sth unknown but also stupid.

Thinking of somethings from a long time ago which, often makes me wish time had not thrown a curve here and there..

Half watching the debates and half listening to music. My dad is getting way too passionate with things, he wants labour to win and he's proper ranting about David Cameron with this over the top voice. I want them to win as well but I'm not exactly whinging.

I was just sitting here on the computer having a vodka and coke, in the absolute silence of the house. It's just after 2 a.m. here. Then, I started to hear singing and music. It gave me goosebumps because I haven't heard music from the vents, since I told 2 people about it a month ago. They promptly laughed their asses off at me, even though I was quite serious. Sometimes I hear a male voice like a radio dj, but can never make out clearly what he's saying. Other times I hear music.

So, I just got up from the desk a few minutes ago. I am in a basement family room with the door to a laundry and furnace room a few feet away from me. I went into the dark laundry/furnace room and started going toward the sound of the music, which get more distinct and louder the nearer I got to the furnace, but I could hear it through the vents. In the past I've heard it in my bedroom, coming from the vent late at night.

It sounded like religious music, kind of like a soprano hymn/chant that was quite hypnotic to listen to, but I can never make out words. I followed the music into an adjoining workshop, in the dark because I figured I could hear it clearer if in the dark. I walked along underneath where the vent ran along the ceiling and happened to look up and had the crap scared out of me!! One of the acoustic hanging ceiling tiles was missing and there was what looked like in the not quite total darkness, two arms hanging down from the ceiling!! ! Yeah, that scared the freaken s**t out of me 8O 8O 8O

I ran the hell out of the room and caught my breath, then turned on the light to see it was a paper hallowe'en skeleton decoration hanging from the ceiling

Yeah, so anyway. I can still hear the music and my family thinks I'm nuts. They might be right

Probably because they need a licence and haven't got one.

Brilliant story!! I think you're gifted. I hear music a lot in my head but I know it's the songs I've been listening to. That sounds really cool.

Thanks :) I hear music frequently in my head also. Usually when that happens spontaneously (Ie. when I have not been listening to music) it's because the particular song is telling me something in an intuitive way, similar to the way dreams can be interpreted. The song will just start playing in my head over and over insistently. If I think about the lyrics and any other associations I have with the song, it will be a message about someone or something in my life and the message is always accurate.

For example, last year, for months I started to hear the song "Renegade" by Styx. Just out of nowhere the tune started up in my head, very insistently. Here are the lyrics:

Renegade Lyrics- Artist: Styx

Oh momma I'm in fear for my life from the long arm of the law
Lawman has put an end to my running and I'm so far from my home
Oh momma I can hear you a'crying you're so scared and all alone
Hangman is comin' down from the gallows and I don't have very
long

The jig is up the news is out they've finally found me
The renegade who had it made retrieved for a bounty
Never more to go astray
This will be the end today of the wanted man

Oh momma I've been years on the lam
And had a high price on my head
Lawman said get him dead or alive
Now it's for sure he'll see me dead
Dear momma I can hear you a'crying
You're so scared and all alone
Hangman is coming down from the gallows
And I don't have very long

The jig is up, the news is out
They finally found me
The renegade who had it made
Retrieved for a bounty
Never more to go astray
The judge will have revenge today
On the wanted man

Oh Momma, I'm in fear for my life from the long arm of the law
Hangman is coming down from the gallows And I don't have very long

The jig is up, the news is out
They finally found me
The renegade who had it made
Retrieved for a bounty
Never more to go astray
This'll be the end today
Of the wanted man
the wanted man

and i don't wanna go,
oh no
dont let 'em take me
no no

OK now this one was weird and this is before I realized the meaning of why I spontaneously get random songs stuck in my head. When it happened with the "Renegade" song, it was only the tune, the exact tune over and over. I recognized it but did not know what song it was at first and I also didn't hear the lyrics in my head. It started bugging me, because it would not stop. So, I hummed the tune to someone I knew and he immediately told me what song it was and who did it. I'm not a Styx fan at all, but because of my age, once he mentioned it was Styx, I immediately recognized it. I looked up the lyrics to get them exact and I got a cold chill up my spine.

The short version of this story is that I didn't listen to my intuition at the time. This song was sending me a very clear insistent message about a guy I was in a relationship with at the time, who turned out to be highly abusive and ended up physically assaulting me. He also had a bad past. I eventually left him when that happened, but not until after going thru pure hell. If I'd listened to that song that played over and over for months when I was with him, I would have saved myself a lot of pain.

The music I hear from vents is different, though. It's an external thing. I read recently that what I'm experiencing is an auditory hallucination and what I am doing is spontaneously "filling in the blanks" of other sounds and turning them into something else. I'm not sure about that theory.

Wow, that's crazy.

I can relate to what you described at the end there and it doesn't sound like what you're describing, right enough.
