Ooh, this is fun. I'm going to think of others. There are SO many words, if there hasn't been a thread devoted solely to interesting words, there certainly could be!

Schenectady and Ralph Avenues are very near each other in Brooklyn.

@Magna,
There is a thread, actually.

That's interesting korts! Maybe my friend Nicola lived near there? She lived near that area I believe.

I would tend to doubt it lol.

In the 1980s, that area was in one of the worst sections of Brooklyn.

Then again, maybe she was quite the heroine....

It’s a somewhat better area nowadays.

Thanks, Isabella. I'm going to look up that thread, since I could go on and on with words. I can't resist a few more though....

A quisling is a traitor.

It comes from Norwegian leader who collaborated with the Nazis.

I used to hear it occasionally in my childhood.

Question:

Would you advocate shaving the Wolfman, and trying to “civilize” him?

No, the wolfman should remain as hairy as can be.

Have you ever touched your tongue to the contact points of a 9 volt battery?

Nicola lived at 85 & 5, so I suppose that wasn't the same area after all.

That's funny Magna. My father did that all the time. He would lick his fingers and touch wires to see if they were live.

The Wolfman must retain his primitive and most charming qualities, which include fur.

New question:
Should libraries have more quiet room areas or be more accessible to the public?

One of the reasons I thought libraries were so glorious as a child is because of the quietness rule. A place with no loud noises and only whispers? Sign me up! Yes, I wish there were designated areas in libraries where quietness was expected.

Do you or have you ever worn contact lenses? If so, what kind?

I tried, but failed

Should there be more ways of communication here on WP i.e a chatroom perhaps or maybe a messenger service that is tied into WP not something that you have to download and install?[/b]

I have never tried contacts, but I do wear librarian type glasses almost 24/7. Sometimes I step in the shower wearing them, or shut out the light in bed before remembering to take them off.

longshot,
I always wondered if there was a WP chat room. It says there is but mine has never worked. What I'd like is better options of how to use our PM mailboxes and organise messages. Mine are near full and I don't like that their space is limited. To delete messages you have to open, read, close them one at a time instead of scrolling more easily. I hate that it deletes the oldest messages.

A chatroom would be great! I don't want to delete any of the PM messages from WP friends. The messages are very dear to me. I've dreaded the day that I meet the capacity of my PM inbox!

A running chat in real time with people? Yes please!

A tinnitus forum I used to spend time on had such a thing if I recall.

Libraries should absolutely be quiet! The activity in a library is reading. Reading is most easily done in silence, and some of us are unable to focus if it isn't quiet.

The rest of the world is loud, no need to make it loud in the library as well. That'd be as nonsensical as making silent zone cars on trains loud.

If a quiet place is inaccessible to the public, then that public needs some discipline. Don't get me started!

I wouldn't mind if WP had a chat box that some forums have where you see the chat while browsing and can access as you wish without leaving the page.

Are you glad that WP is not filled with a bunch of unpleasant people as, let's say Facebook?
