uhm..willing to share how to fix broken windows......
I spoke too soon - the workaround started giving strange results today. So I created another workaround, and then just as I was about to try it, the strange results stopped happening, and then the broken "Show windows side by side" feature in Windows 10 miraculously put itself right and rendered all my hard work unnecessary.
I can now do what I wanted to do without any workarounds, but I suppose it's good that I've got them in case the bug comes back again. Unfortunately I can't test the second workaround unless the bug does come back, and the details of exactly how to do all these things is rather complicated so I'll probably have to write out a load of notes so it'll make sense at some random point in the future when I've forgotten what I did and why.
Still, I suppose I've deepened my knowledge about how Windows 10 can do weird things. The original bug is a known problem for some people, otherwise I'd be wondering if I didn't dream the whole thing.
