If you can apply the knowledge and solve problems with it.

Which matters more, authenticity or social harmony?

Authenticity.

Could you live without human interaction for the rest of your life? (I could!)

Real-life interaction? Yes, I could live without it, 100%.

Online interaction? I'd miss talking to people online, and sharing experiences. :(

What types of chores did you have as a child?

Vacuum house, clean dishes, brush pets, and practice musical instruments (don't even ask  ).

Same question.

My mother was OCD controlling about the housework and she wouldn't let anyone else do any cleaning, in case it was done differently than her standard. I wasn't really allowed to do housework other than cleaning or arranging my own bedroom, and I was never taught to cook or assist her in the kitchen. When I tried so much as making a piece of toast I was criticised.

For fun I was allowed to wash my dolls' clothes in the sink. I also learned to organise the things in my bedroom.

I finally escaped the tyranny of her cleaning obsession and learned to do housework (every type) when I moved out for university. I've been self-sufficient and done it all on my own ever since (30 years).

I was taught how to do my own laundry around 10 years old. My Mom also let me try cooking things when I was pretty young and I liked to check out kid-centric cookbooks from the library and try recipes. I was in charge of mowing the lawn which was pretty large so it took all day with a gasoline push mower. I don't recall any other regular chores.

My Mom kept a very tidy house but left me to my own for my bedroom. I must admit that I was a very messy kid. I knew where pretty much everything in my bedroom was, but sometimes I had to almost wade through it.

Once I took a very large spool of string tied one end to a clothes peg and made a room sized haphazard web throughout the entire room from floor to ceiling and everywhere in between. I had to know how to maneuver through it to get to my bed and around the room. I left it that way for many months.

Phobias:

I don't know if I'm a germophobe, but I hate shaking hands with people. I feel totally compromised until I can thoroughly wash my hands with my own soap.

Otherwise I don't encounter other phobias on a daily basis.

My brother had "boy chores": cleaning the pool, cutting grass, shovelling snow, barbecuing, carving dinner (turkey), assisting in the workshop, doing home repairs, etc. I wasn't allowed any of that because I was a girl, but my mother restricted me from the girl things because I was "useless as tits on a bull". (Her words). Nice. :?

Phobias on a daily basis: other than having the telephone ring or having to leave my home (agoraphobia), I'm able to avoid most of them.

Agreed. Double shame. I was 12 and vulnerable. She announced it to a room full of women holding dainty little teacups, at a baby shower in our house. They all just stared at me with mouths agape. This was mere days after John Lennon died and I was still in mourning for his death. I associate John Lennon with that feeling of shame now.

Do you wash your hair every day?

Depends on what constitutes "wash". I shower every day and don't like the feeling when I skip a day. I have short hair so usually I just wet my hair down and rinse it without using any soap. Then I rub my hair briskly with a towel afterward and it's good to go.

Another reason I like a daily shower? It's the only time in my life where I can't hear my ears ringing.

Agreed! It's my refuge from tinnitus as well!

I skip a day washing my hair sometimes, if I'm just staying home, but it's rare. I always have a bath or a shower whether or not I wash my hair. If I'm going out in public I always wash my hair the same day, not even the night before like some women.

Do your floors creak?

We have a few wood floors that creak very slightly but otherwise, no. I've lived in upper level apartments with wood floors (my favorite kind) and they creaked a lot but I didn't mind.

I have a mix of hardwood and flagstone floors. The hardwood in my bedroom and in one hallway creaks, as well as one step on my main staircase. It doesn't bother me either. The other bedrooms and my reading room are fine.

Did you ever wear inflatable water wings to learn to swim? I loved mine, and loved their plastic scent combined with sunshine and swimming pool smell. I liked the little nubby thing for sealing them. Yes I was a weird kid.

Creaking stairs. That brings back a memories of learning the creaks and where they were on a large wood staircase leading up to my bedroom growing up. When I was a teen and I would stay out far later than I was supposed to, I would know how to tip toe silently back up to my room. I think my Mom probably was aware of when I got home but never said anything....

I remember those water wings and the little clear plastic nubbies, but I don't remember wearing them to swim. I learned to swim when I was very young and LOVED the water. My Mom would take me to the YWCA for swim lessons while she exercised there and later on she'd drop me off there for more advanced swim lessons. Going back to the changing room area one day after a swim class going back to the changing area when I was probably ten, I saw my first naked woman. She wasn't expecting me to be there and we startled each other. I then spent a lot of time thinking about how/why anyone would want a tattoo of a rose "down there"... :D

Gold or silver jewelry?
