I don't know that I'd want to go to Mars unless Bowie sang "Life on Mars" whilst I was there.

I wouldn't want lousy food anywhere.

Would you rather live in a castle or a funky flat high above Manhattan?

A castle. Infinite rooms to hide away in, and (hopefully) it has castle stables full of beautiful horses.
I will NEVER live in NY

If you had a chance to have a conversation with anyone past or present, who would you pick and what would you ask them?

If the castle has modern conveniences, and is easily accessible from the front, I'd take the castle.

I used to know a few working-class people in NYC who were lucky enough to have terraces which gave lovely views of Manhattan.

Same question.

Grace,
I would talk to my ancestors. If I had to pick one in particular, I'd choose my paternal grandmother Kathleen. She's the one who got pregnant before marriage and disowned by her parents, then eventually my grandfather deserted her and the entire family and became reclusive for eight years. I'd like to ask her literally everything about her life experiences, or what she knows via family folklore about her connection to the Brontë family.

same q

I would like to know who my great-grandparents on my mother's side were. And how they lived in Russia. I would want to talk to them about it.

I have no idea about my maternal grandfather or grandmother's parents.

Same question.

My avatar and we would have an intellectual conversation.

Are you more creative with your hands or with your head?

I would also want to talk to my friend Dee (from the present) to figure out why she dumped me like hot coals after my stroke.

:(

I'm more creative with my hands (knitting, writing) but that also involves my head I suppose. I'm not known as an out-of-the-box problem solver though, so I don't want to say head.

What is the first scent you think of when you think of your childhood?

The scent of whatever glue or sealant they were using when they were renovating our hotel in Montreal during Expo 67 (1967).

Same question.

I have a lot. The first one would likely be Noxzema face cream.

Also, boat exhaust. Sunlight dish soap. New dolls (they smelled like vanilla and baby powder). Johnson Baby Shampoo.

Swimming pools (chlorine, rubber rafts, water wings, styrofoam flutter boards, sunscreen), wet winter boots. Wallpaper paste. New carpet.

Did you toe-walk as a child?

Ice cream or really good chocolate cake. If we were ever at some sort of face to face WP or other kind of function at the same time, I would therefore take the piece of chocolate cake served to you off of your hands, Isabella!

Do you feel you were more "actualized" as a child compared to other kids your age? Meaning, do you feel you had a very solid "sense of self", "wise beyond your years", etc?

When I woke up from anaesthesia yesterday I was hallucinating that the doctors' heads were cakes, and everyone had a slice removed near their left ear. They were vanilla cakes.

lol

I've never had hallucinations after anaesthesia before!

Yes, please take my cake! I don't really like cake and I don't like chocolate. I'll have apple pie or cherry cheesecake, pls.

Did you ever have a pet in a cage? (rabbit, gerbil, bird, etc.?)

I had a parakeet named Oscar (known in the UK as a Budgie).

Same question.
